The SKF 23952 CC/W33 open spherical roller bearing combines dimensions of 260 × 360 × 75 mm with enhanced P5 running accuracy and a lubrication groove for demanding heavy-duty applications.
The 23952 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open, double-row roller bearing from SKF designed for heavy radial and combined axial loads. With a bore of 260 mm, an outside diameter of 360 mm and a width of 75 mm, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration during operation.
This double-row large-size bearing is designed for heavy-duty mechanical applications involving large shaft diameters, where shaft deflection may occur. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the rolling element system self-aligns and compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing without generating edge pressures. The design accommodates high radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions. As an open bearing, the unit requires integration into external lubrication systems.
The suffix W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. The lubricant flows directly between the two rows of rollers via this lubrication channel. Whilst the dimensional accuracy corresponds to the standard PN class, the tighter running accuracy of class P5 offers improved concentricity during operation. With this open design, a suitable external housing seal is required to prevent lubricant loss and the ingress of contaminants.
With an internal diameter of 260 mm, an external diameter of 360 mm and a width of 75 mm, this large bearing has standardised main dimensions. These dimensions allow for precise adaptation to load-bearing shafts and housing bores in heavy-duty applications. The compact cross-sectional height is suitable for bearing arrangements where radial installation space is limited.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows lubricants from external lubrication systems or oil bath environments to circulate freely. Lubricating oil or grease reaches all contact surfaces directly and dissipates frictional heat. A seal must be fitted over the bearing housing to protect against dirt and moisture.
The suffix W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes machined into the outer ring. These holes allow lubricant to be applied directly from the outside, between the two rows of rollers, into the interior of the bearing. This simplifies regular maintenance and relubrication whilst the bearing is fitted.
This design combines standard dimensional tolerances of class PN with increased running accuracy in accordance with class P5. The tighter tolerance in run-out reduces run-out errors during operation, minimises additional dynamic forces and ensures smooth and even running at high speeds.
The spherical roller bearing is designed for temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) used and the robust sheet steel cage ensure dimensional stability within this range. To ensure reliable operation, a lubricant must be selected that fully covers this temperature range.
The bearing is fitted with standard radial clearance. This design is tailored to standard shaft and housing fits, as well as balanced operating temperatures at which there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. The radial clearance can be checked whilst the bearing is fitted, prior to commissioning.
