Robust SKF 24132 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing, dimensions 160x270x109 mm, with significantly increased C4 clearance and W33 lubrication for demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 24132 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as combined axial loads and serves to compensate for shaft misalignment. With dimensions of 160 mm bore, 270 mm outer diameter and 109 mm width, this design is classified as a wide bearing for heavy loads. The manufacturer produces the bearing from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel with a sheet steel cage. The open design, without integrated seals, allows for direct lubricant supply.
This roller bearing is suitable for demanding applications involving high loads, where shaft deflection or misalignment between the bearing positions may occur. As the bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees, it is suitable for thermally demanding applications. The lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring (W33) allows lubricant to be replenished directly into the bearing interior whilst the bearing is in operation.
The suffix C4 denotes a significantly increased radial bearing clearance, which exceeds the normal operating clearance and the C3 grade. This increased bearing clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation. Together with the increased running accuracy to Class P5, combined with standard dimensional accuracy PN, the bearing ensures consistent concentricity even under mechanical and thermal stress.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 160 mm, an outside diameter of 270 mm and a width of 109 mm. Thanks to its wide design, there is ample contact area inside the bearing for the rolling elements, which enhances its load-carrying capacity under heavy radial and axial loads.
The designation CC refers to the design featuring a sheet steel cage. C4 denotes the significantly increased radial bearing clearance for applications subject to high thermal loads or temperature gradients between the rings. The abbreviation W33 refers to a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring for the supply of lubricant.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made of case-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material offers high strength across the entire permissible temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The rolling elements are guided by a lightweight sheet steel cage.
As an open bearing, this design does not feature any factory-fitted sealing washers. Lubrication is provided via the W33 lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring, through which lubricant enters the bearing directly. The bearing housing should be protected against the ingress of dirt and lubricant loss by means of external housing seals.
This model combines the standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with the enhanced running accuracy of Class P5. Whilst the connecting dimensions, such as the bore and outer diameter, comply with standard manufacturing tolerances, the run-out and axial run-out are more tightly controlled. This ensures low-vibration operation of the shaft.
