The SKF 22226 E self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 130 × 230 × 64 mm, compensates for misalignment and is designed for high radial and axial loads.
The SKF 22226 E self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing for demanding mechanical systems. With an inner diameter of 130 mm, an outer diameter of 230 mm and a width of 64 mm, this open bearing accommodates high radial and axial forces in both directions. The sheet steel cage guides the barrel-shaped rollers during operation. As an SKF Explorer variant, the component features an optimised internal contact geometry, which contributes to even load distribution across the raceways.
The 22226 E self-aligning roller bearing compensates for misalignment between the inner ring and the outer ring caused by misalignment errors or elastic shaft deflection under load. The spherical hollow ball raceway in the outer ring allows the roller sets to swing freely without edge loading. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the bearing covers a wide range of thermal operating conditions. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The bearing features a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring. This design enables targeted relubrication of the bearing, allowing lubricant to reach directly between the two rows of rollers. The dimensional accuracy corresponds to class PN, whilst the running accuracy, in accordance with class P5, specifies tighter concentricity tolerances. The higher running accuracy ensures smooth operation at higher speeds and reduces vibrations in the drivetrain.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 130 mm, an outside diameter of 230 mm and a width of 64 mm. These dimensions determine the installation requirements within the structure. Before installation, the shaft seat and the housing bore should be checked to ensure they match the required dimensions.
The lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring are designed to ensure the targeted supply of lubricant during operation. This allows grease or oil to reach the contact surfaces between the rollers and the flanges directly from the centre. This promotes an even distribution of lubricant across the rollers and raceways.
The dimensional accuracy class PN denotes standard tolerances for key dimensions such as bore, outer diameter and width. Running accuracy in Class P5, on the other hand, implies reduced concentricity deviations of the inner and outer rings. As a result, the bearing runs with lower vibration and is suitable for precisely guided drive shafts.
The roller bearing is designed as an open type without integrated sealing washers. It must be lubricated with a suitable lubricant during fitting. Protection against dirt, moisture and lubricant loss is provided by external housing seals at the bearing housing.
This product has standard radial bearing clearance. This value describes the radial clearance specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is not fitted. Standard bearing clearance is suitable for common fit combinations and typical operating temperatures without excessive thermal expansion of the shaft.
The bearing is fitted with a sheet steel cage. This material can withstand continuous mechanical loads and covers the bearing’s full operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
