The SKF 23030 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing, measuring 150 × 225 × 56 mm, compensates for misalignment and withstands heavy radial loads.
The SKF 23030 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a rolling bearing designed for industrial applications involving demanding load conditions. With a bore of 150 mm, an outer diameter of 225 mm and a width of 56 mm, this bearing is particularly suitable for larger shaft mountings. The barrel-shaped rollers run in two rows and compensate for both static and dynamic angular misalignment of the shaft. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the design with a sheet steel cage offers high dimensional stability during operation.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used where high radial forces act on rotating shafts and where deflection or misalignment must be compensated for. Such requirements arise primarily in heavily loaded shaft mountings in mechanical engineering, where misalignment can result from manufacturing tolerances or elastic deformation. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be integrated into housing systems where centralised oil lubrication or defined relubrication intervals using grease are provided.
The W33 designation indicates an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design facilitates the even supply of lubricant to the raceways directly from the outside, without the need to apply lubricant via the end faces. Furthermore, this bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy PN with the finer running accuracy P5. This combination ensures low-vibration operation and precise shaft guidance at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
With an internal diameter of 150 mm, an external diameter of 225 mm and a total width of 56 mm, this version complies with the standardised dimensions for size 23030. Before installation, you should adjust the bearing seat on the shaft and in the housing precisely to these mounting dimensions.
The designation W33 is characterised by a circumferential lubrication groove with several lubrication holes in the outer ring. The lubricant enters directly between the two rows of rollers via these openings. This simplifies regular relubrication during operation and helps to ensure an even distribution of lubricant over the entire circumference of the rolling bearing.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the dimensionally stable steel sheet cage retain their strength within this range. When designing the bearing, ensure that you select a lubricant whose specification is also approved for the temperatures encountered in the bearing housing.
The specification combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN with the tighter running accuracy of Class P5. The dimensions for the bore and outer ring fall within the standard range, whilst the run-out of the inner and outer rings is subject to tighter limits. This promotes smooth running and reduces additional dynamic loads in the drivetrain.
Without integrated sealing washers, the open design allows for flexible adaptation to the lubrication system of the respective plant, whether this involves an oil bath, circulating oil or grease. It also allows for direct relubrication via the W33 lubrication groove. During design, you must provide suitable external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt.
As a defined radial clearance when the bearing is in its unassembled state, the standard bearing clearance ensures that the bearing does not become distorted after being pressed onto the shaft and as it heats up during operation. In standard applications without extreme temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, this operating clearance ensures an even load distribution across the rolling elements.
