The SKF 22214 EK/C3 self-aligning roller bearing, with a 70 mm bore, 125 mm outer diameter and C3 clearance, offers high load-carrying capacity under misalignment conditions.
The SKF 22214 EK/C3 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding industrial applications involving combined loads. With main dimensions of 70x125x31 mm, this double-row roller bearing can accommodate very high radial forces as well as axial forces on both sides. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open component is made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This bearing design is primarily used where high combined forces are present. Wherever shaft deflection occurs or misalignment between housings is unavoidable, the bearing counteracts internal stresses. The integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is in operation. The sheet steel cage guides the roller sets accurately, even under shock loads.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows mounting directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, using a shrink sleeve, onto cylindrical smooth shafts. During assembly, the inner ring expands, which reduces the radial bearing clearance. The factory-increased C3 bearing clearance helps to ensure that the required operating clearance is maintained after press-fitting and during operation-induced heating. The running accuracy to tolerance class P5 ensures low-vibration operation.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a total width of 31 mm. It is an open roller bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel without integrated sealing washers.
The abbreviation K indicates a tapered bore with a pitch ratio of 1:12. This geometry allows the bearing clearance to be adjusted whilst sliding the bearing onto tapered bearing seats or when using mounting sleeves.
The designation C3 indicates a radial clearance that is slightly greater than the standard value. In bearings with a tapered bore, the radial clearance is reduced when the inner ring is pressed into place. The C3 bearing clearance counteracts any distortion of the rolling elements after assembly and compensates for thermal expansion during operation.
The outer ring of the bearing is fitted with a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes. This design allows lubricant to flow directly between the two rows of rollers. As there are no integrated seals, the housing provides protection against foreign particles and retains the lubricant.
This roller bearing combines the dimensional accuracy of standard class PN with the increased running accuracy of class P5. As a result, it offers tightly defined concentricity tolerances on the inner and outer rings, which promotes smooth shaft operation at higher speeds.
The 22214 EK/C3 spherical roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 material retain their dimensional stability and shape even at elevated operating temperatures.
