The SKF 22234 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing, with a 170 mm bore, tapered seat and C3 clearance, offers high load-carrying capacity for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The SKF 22234 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as simultaneously acting axial forces in both directions. With key dimensions of a 170 mm bore diameter, 310 mm outer diameter and 86 mm width, this open roller bearing is designed for demanding shaft mountings. Thanks to its angularly adjustable design, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the rolling elements and raceways offer high wear resistance.
This double-row roller bearing is suitable for heavy-duty shaft mountings subject to combined loads and deflection. Thanks to the integrated sheet steel cage and the temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the design operates reliably even under thermal stress. As the open bearing has no seals, it can be flexibly integrated into the customer’s lubrication systems. The lubricant is fed directly between the two sets of rollers via the lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The designation CCK refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or using clamping and withdrawal sleeves. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3) compensates for the reduction in radial clearance that occurs when the inner ring is pressed onto the shaft. Furthermore, this bearing clearance accounts for operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. This design combines PN dimensional accuracy with the increased running accuracy of P5 for smooth running.
With an internal diameter of 170 mm, an external diameter of 310 mm and a width of 86 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised key dimensions for this size. The design is intended for heavily loaded bearing arrangements in industrial machinery where a stable shaft fit and compact axial dimensions are required.
The letter K indicates a tapered bore with a standard 1:12 taper for fitting with sleeves or onto tapered seats. The suffix CC describes the internal design featuring symmetrical rollers and a guided sheet steel cage. This combination allows for controlled adjustment of the radial bearing clearance during installation.
An increased bearing clearance in Group C3 compensates for the reduction in radial clearance that occurs when the bearing is pushed radially onto a tapered bearing seat. At the same time, this increased clearance provides a design margin for operational thermal expansion, ensuring that the rolling elements do not become stressed even when there are temperature differences between the rings.
The suffix W33 indicates a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This allows the grease or lubricating oil to reach the working area between the two rows of rollers directly and evenly. This facilitates regular relubrication whilst the bearing is installed in the housing.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +200 degrees Celsius. Thanks to its sheet steel cage and dimensionally stable 100Cr6 roller bearing steel, the bearing is suitable for varying thermal conditions. Select the lubricant to be used to suit the specific operating temperature and environmental conditions of your plant.
The bearing combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN with the enhanced running accuracy of tolerance class P5. The tighter P5 running tolerance reduces radial deviations during rotation. This promotes low-vibration operation of rotating shafts in demanding industrial drive systems.
