The SKF 22324 CCKJA/W33VA405 spherical roller bearing, measuring 120 × 260 × 86 mm and featuring a tapered bore, offers high load-carrying capacity for oscillating loads in vibrating screens.
The 22324 CCKJA/W33VA405 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) by SKF for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 260 mm and a width of 86 mm, this design can withstand high radial loads. This design is suitable for oscillating loads at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. Thanks to the integrated sheet steel cage and tight manufacturing tolerances, the bearing guides the rolling elements precisely even under dynamic load cycles.
Operators primarily use this special version in vibrating screens and vibrating machines where high accelerations occur. As it is suitable for oscillating loads, the component withstands the constant centrifugal forces and vibrations. Any misalignment between the inner and outer rings is automatically compensated for by the spherical raceway in the outer ring. The open bearing requires an external housing seal and is suitable for lubricated systems; in this case, the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore.
This bearing has a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. You can either mount the inner ring directly onto a tapered shaft journal or secure it to a cylindrical shaft using a suitable adapter sleeve. When the bearing is mounted, the radial clearance is measurably reduced. For this reason, the component is supplied from the factory with a significantly increased radial bearing clearance. Furthermore, the mating surfaces meet tight tolerance classes: the bore tolerance corresponds to P5 and the outer diameter tolerance to P6, which ensures a precise fit within the housing.
With a bore diameter of 120 mm, the outer diameter is 260 mm and the width is 86 mm. Due to the tapered design of the 120 mm bore, with a 1:12 taper, the reference diameter must be taken into account during dimensional inspection. Standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 is used as the material.
A significantly increased radial bearing clearance serves to prevent the bearing from becoming stressed following radial press-fitting onto the tapered seat or as a result of operational heating. As the oscillating loads in vibrating screens can generate additional heat and cause dynamic deformation, the increased operating clearance allows the rolling elements sufficient freedom of movement during operation.
Mounting on the shaft is carried out either directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, on a smooth shaft, by means of an adapter sleeve. When axially displaced, the inner ring expands, thereby specifically reducing the bearing clearance. The correct interference fit can be determined by measuring the remaining radial clearance.
Tight tolerance classes ensure precise concentricity and a defined fit. In this spherical roller bearing, the bore tolerance corresponds to class P5 and the outer diameter tolerance to class P6. This reduces unwanted micro-movements between the bearing rings and the connected components during severe vibrations.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. This means the component meets the typical thermal requirements of industrial screening plants. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the choice of lubricant and external housing seals must be tailored to the respective operating temperature.
In this variant, which has no groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant is fed directly from the end face into the interior of the open bearing. This prevents lubricant leakage via the housing channels and complies with the specific design requirements of some vibrating screen bearings. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements during operation.
