The SKF 2206 ETN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing, with dimensions of 30x62x20 mm, compensates for angular misalignment of the shaft.
The double-row self-aligning ball bearing 2206 ETN9/C3 features a continuous hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design enables the two rows of balls to automatically compensate for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this open roller bearing is suitable for industrial applications involving combined loads.
Designs featuring long shafts or split housings are prone to elastic deflection and assembly inaccuracies. The double-row bearing accommodates such misalignments between the inner and outer rings without jamming the rolling elements. As this is an open design, the component can be integrated directly into existing lubrication circuits. The bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The suffix ETN9 indicates a lightweight polyamide cage, which supports the guidance of the balls with low noise and low friction. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This increased clearance between the balls and raceways is advantageous when tight shaft fits cause the inner ring to expand or when operational temperature differences occur between the shaft and the housing.
This double-row roller bearing has a cylindrical bore of 30 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a total width of 20 mm. The inner ring corresponds to the standard design and is mounted directly onto the cylindrical shaft.
At SKF, the letter combination ETN9 denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, damping properties and smooth running. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The designation C3 indicates a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard basic design. This additional internal clearance counteracts bearing stress when tight fits or thermal expansion of the shaft and inner ring occur during operation.
As this model is designed without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the balls and raceways unimpeded. You can either lubricate the bearing manually with rolling-element bearing grease prior to installation, or supply it via a centralised circulating lubrication system within the housing.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to the standard normal tolerance PN and the US ABEC 1 classification. This class meets the standard precision requirements in general mechanical engineering and industrial drive technology.
