The SKF 2311 K double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a tapered bore compensates for misalignment and measures 55 × 120 × 43 mm.
The SKF 2311 K self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the ball列 automatically aligns itself, enabling the bearing to compensate for angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. With key dimensions of a 55 mm bore, 120 mm outer diameter and 43 mm width, as well as a sheet steel cage, this open bearing is designed for applications in general mechanical engineering.
Design engineers primarily use this self-aligning ball bearing where shaft deflection or misalignment may occur. Typical applications include long shaft runs with separate housing sections in industrial settings. Thanks to its open design without sealing washers, the component is suitable for environments with an external lubricant supply. The component covers a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates assembly onto tapered shaft seats or, with the aid of clamping and withdrawal sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. By axially sliding the inner ring onto the shaft, the standard radial bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted during installation. For both assembly and maintenance, this geometry offers flexibility in shaft connection and simplifies maintenance and disassembly work.
This double-row roller bearing features a continuous spherical outer ring raceway. This allows the inner ring, cage and balls to tilt in order to compensate for misalignment or shaft deflection. This version features a tapered inner bore and a sheet steel cage for industrial applications.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a total width of 43 mm. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 from tried-and-tested 100Cr6 roller bearing steel.
The symbol ‘K’ indicates a conical rather than a cylindrical internal bore, with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design is specifically intended for mounting on conical shaft journals or for fixing to smooth shafts using suitable mounting sleeves.
The 2311 K is an open bearing without integrated sliding or lip seals. It therefore requires an external sealing arrangement at the housing end and can be lubricated with oil or grease, which is applied directly to the rolling elements.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. When the tapered inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, this radial clearance is measurably reduced; therefore, the tight fit should be checked against the remaining clearance after installation.
The component is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. This operating range allows it to be used in industrial environments, provided that the lubricant and the surrounding housing seals are suitable for the same temperature range.
