The FAG 2309 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing (45x100x36 mm) compensates for misalignment and offers increased C3 radial clearance for demanding shaft mountings.
With the FAG 2309 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, you get a double-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This design enables the two rows of balls to automatically compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open bearing has a 45 mm bore, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 36 mm. A dimensionally stable polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel prefer to use this bearing on long shafts or in split housing assemblies where misalignment or elastic deflection occurs. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing adjusts angularly without generating excessive edge stresses. Typical applications include shaft mountings in general mechanical engineering. The open design allows for application-specific lubrication with oil or grease directly via the surrounding housing structure.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using suitable mounting and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. In conjunction with the slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3, the required operating clearance is maintained even after press-fitting and the associated expansion of the inner ring. Furthermore, the increased bearing clearance helps to compensate for operational temperature differences between the rotating inner ring and the stationary outer ring.
A double-row self-aligning ball bearing from FAG with the main dimensions 45 × 100 × 36 mm. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the component automatically compensates for misalignment between the shaft and the housing. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, it complies with standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The letter K denotes a tapered inner ring bore with a standard taper of 1:12. This design is intended for mounting on tapered shaft journals or allows fitting onto smooth cylindrical shafts using a locking sleeve. When the bearing is pushed onto the shaft, the radial bearing clearance is measurably reduced, thereby ensuring a secure fit.
The C3 designation indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard. As pressing the inner ring onto a tapered seat stretches the ring and thus reduces the internal bearing clearance, the C3 design prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed. At the same time, the increased bearing clearance accommodates thermal expansion during operation.
The polyamide cage, designated TVH, is characterised by its low weight, good run-on properties and elastic damping under impact loads. It guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As an open roller bearing without integrated sealing washers, this model is not factory-filled with grease. Lubrication is provided via the surrounding machine housing, either by oil bath, oil circulation or a suitable grease filling. Before commissioning, users must ensure a suitable lubricant supply and effective external housing seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 45 mm at the bore, an outer diameter of 100 mm and an axial width of 36 mm. These dimensions define the radial installation space and the axial support of the double rows of balls on the shaft and in the housing.
