The FAG 2305 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing compensates for angular misalignment and, with dimensions of 25 x 62 x 24 mm, offers flexible mounting options.
The 2305 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing from FAG, manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring, the ball assembly aligns itself automatically when the shaft deflects. This open bearing features a tapered bore and a lightweight polyamide cage. With dimensions of 25 mm bore diameter, 62 mm outer diameter and 24 mm width, it is suitable for industrial applications where misalignment between the shaft and housing may occur.
The use of this self-aligning bearing is particularly recommended where elastic shafts or housing deflection cause static or dynamic angular misalignment. As the inner ring, together with the two rows of balls, can pivot within the outer ring, the design compensates for misalignment during operation without generating additional edge pressure. The open design allows for direct lubricant supply via the surrounding system. Typical applications include industrial shaft bearings operating at medium speeds and under varying radial loads.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for mounting on tapered shaft seats or, with the aid of mounting and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. When the inner ring is pushed onto the shaft, it expands, thereby reducing the operating clearance. The factory-specified bearing clearance class C3 provides increased radial bearing clearance. This clearance accommodates expansion during tightening as well as thermal expansion within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This double-row roller bearing has a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This enables the rows of balls to compensate for angular misalignment of the shaft. The combination of a tapered bore, a polyamide cage and a C3 clearance facilitates flexible mounting on sleeves as well as operation under conditions where heat is generated during use.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 25 mm at the nominal dimension, an outside diameter of 62 mm and a width of 24 mm. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The bore has a conical shape with a ratio of 1:12. This allows the component to be fitted either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, using an adapter sleeve, onto a smooth shaft. The axial displacement during tightening determines the tightness of the fit and the remaining bearing clearance.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. As the inner ring expands when fitted onto a tapered seat, the internal bearing clearance is reduced mechanically. The C3 clearance serves to prevent undesirable stresses after press-fitting.
The suffix TVH indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and smooth running. It guides the rolling elements with low friction and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature integrated sealing washers. Lubrication is provided via the respective housing system, either with grease or lubricating oil. During design, users must ensure that the housing is externally sealed to retain the lubricant within the system and keep contaminants out.
