The FAG 2212-TVH self-aligning ball bearing, with a 60 mm bore and a polyamide cage, provides precise angular compensation for shaft deflection in mechanical engineering applications.
The 2212-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6 with a 60 mm cylindrical bore. Thanks to the shared hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and alignment errors between the shaft and housing. As an open design without an integrated seal, the bearing operates with standard radial clearance and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration.
This design is particularly useful in applications where shaft deflection or misalignment between the bearing seats occurs. The spherical outer ring raceway accommodates misalignment without restricting the rotational movement of the two rows of balls. This prevents edge loading and promotes even load distribution. As this is an open bearing, the lubricant can be applied directly into the assembly and adapted to the operating conditions.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the cage’s own weight and ensures quiet and smooth running of the rolling elements. When designing the bearing mounting, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius must be taken into account. As the bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, the bearing mounting in the housing must be protected against dirt particles and moisture to prevent premature wear.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 28 mm. These precisely defined key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto shafts with a diameter of 60 millimetres in appropriately designed mechanical engineering housings.
The abbreviation TVH refers to a cage made of polyamide. Cages made from this plastic are characterised by their low weight, elastic properties and the quiet running of the balls. They operate reliably within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The distinctive design feature lies in the hollow-spherical raceway of the outer ring. In the event of shaft deflection or misalignment, the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring, pivot continuously within this spherical surface. This ensures that no impermissible edge pressures are exerted on the rolling elements in the event of misalignment.
This product features the standard radial bearing clearance, which is designed for standard operating conditions. The bearing clearance refers to the radial play between the balls and raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It serves to accommodate thermal expansion of the rings and elastic deformation whilst the machine is in operation.
As the bearing is not fitted with either cover plates or sealing washers at the factory, lubrication is provided via the surrounding machine housing using grease or lubricating oil. External sealing elements, such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals, must be incorporated into the housing design to prevent the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant.
Manufacture is carried out in accordance with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances of the rings for use in standard industrial applications.
