The SKF 2211 EKTN9/C3 angular contact ball bearing compensates for misalignment in all directions and, with dimensions of 55 × 100 × 25 mm, is suitable for shaft mountings at risk of deflection.
This double-row roller bearing, made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), features two rows of balls on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. Thanks to this design, the bearing automatically adjusts itself when the shaft is misaligned. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration. The open self-aligning ball bearing 2211 EKTN9/C3 can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
Typical areas of application include bearing locations where shaft deflection or misalignment between the inner and outer rings occurs. Common applications are found in mechanical engineering with longer shafts or separate bearing housings, where misalignment is unavoidable. Thanks to its double-row design, the component primarily absorbs radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions, without any forced loads placing premature stress on the rolling elements.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for direct mounting on a tapered shaft seat or flexible mounting on cylindrical shafts using a suitable clamping sleeve. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance is necessary because the radial clearance is reduced when the inner ring is pushed on axially. The bearings are manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
The dimensions are 55 mm bore diameter, 100 mm outer diameter and 25 mm width. The bore is tapered at a ratio of 1:12, which allows it to be fitted directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, using suitable sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts.
C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard clearance. When the tapered inner ring is fitted, it expands within its seat, thereby reducing the radial clearance. The C3 design helps to ensure that sufficient operating clearance is maintained after assembly.
The polyamide cage guides the two rows of balls whilst being lightweight and offering smooth running characteristics. It helps to reduce friction and running noise, and is designed for operation in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As the bearing is supplied without integrated seals and without factory-fitted lubricant, lubrication is carried out according to the specific application. It can be supplied via an existing oil circulation system or filled with a suitable rolling-element bearing grease prior to commissioning.
Standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 is a through-hardened roller bearing steel designed for high compressive loads. The material offers high wear resistance and dimensional stability, and ensures that the rolling elements and raceways retain their dimensions during continuous operation.
The shared hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring allows the inner ring, together with the ball cages, to move freely. As a result, the bearing assembly compensates for shaft misalignment and alignment errors, both statically and dynamically, during operation.
