The SKF 2210 EKTN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 50x90x23 mm with a tapered bore and C3 radial clearance, compensates for shaft deflection and misalignment during operation.
The 2210 EKTN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel for demanding industrial applications. It features a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, which automatically compensates for angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. With key dimensions of 50 mm bore diameter, 90 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width, this open bearing accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces acting in both directions. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Its use is particularly recommended for longer shaft assemblies where operational deflection or misalignment may occur. Typical applications include shaft trains and housing arrangements in general mechanical engineering where misalignment needs to be compensated for. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be integrated directly into oil- or grease-lubricated housing systems, allowing lubricants to reach the working surfaces unhindered. The self-aligning design counteracts premature edge stresses and protects surrounding drive components.
The version with a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for secure mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using suitable clamping and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance of class C3 provides the necessary compensation if the inner ring is expanded during press-fitting or if temperature differences reduce the operating clearance. In conjunction with the standard tolerance class P0, this rolling bearing provides a reliable basis for standardised bearing seats in repair work and series production.
This double-row roller bearing features a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, which allows the two rows of balls to adapt flexibly in the event of misalignment. With an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm, it compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. The open design allows for direct integration into existing lubrication systems.
The tapered internal bore with a 1:12 taper is designed to allow easy mounting on tapered shafts or installation using clamping sleeves on cylindrical shaft sections. By sliding the inner ring onto the shaft, the radial bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted, which also makes subsequent disassembly for maintenance work considerably easier.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance in the as-supplied condition. This increased clearance is required for bearings with a tapered bore, as the inner ring expands when tightened onto the sleeve. Furthermore, the C3 bearing clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up due to operational heating.
The cage, designated TN9, is made of lightweight polyamide and guides the balls along the raceways with minimal friction. The material dampens vibrations during operation and runs quietly. With this cage, the bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Open roller bearings do not have any manufacturer-fitted cover plates or sealing washers. This allows the selected lubricant, such as grease or oil, to circulate freely between the outer ring, the balls and the inner ring. This design requires an external housing seal to protect the bearing from contamination and the ingress of moisture.
The rings and rolling elements are made from fully hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This tried-and-tested material offers high resistance to fatigue and wear. Together with the P0 tolerance class to which it is manufactured, the component complies with common industry standards for precision-fit machine bearings.
