The FAG 2210 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing specifically compensates for misalignment and, thanks to its 2RS seal, protects against the ingress of dirt in the 50x90x23 mm size.
With the FAG 2210 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, you get a double-row rolling bearing for demanding shaft mountings. Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing automatically adjusts itself in the event of misalignment or shaft deflection. The dimensionally stable inner ring, made from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, and the two rows of balls in the lightweight polyamide cage ensure low-friction rolling. The double-sided seal protects the interior from particles, whilst the design is rated for operating temperatures from -30 to +100 degrees.
This bearing is particularly recommended where misalignment occurs between the housing and the shaft, or where dynamic deflections of long shafts need to be compensated for. Industrial drives and shaft designs prone to deflection are typical areas of application. Whilst rigid bearings tend to run on the edges when there is a housing misalignment, the double-row ball bearing tilts within its outer ring raceway, allowing for angular adjustment. The 2RS seal also enables use in dusty environments where open bearings would wear out quickly.
The tapered bore, designated ‘K’, allows for secure mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, on smooth cylindrical shafts. When slid onto the tapered seat, the inner ring expands, thereby reducing the bearing clearance. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3 compensates for this installation shrinkage as well as for operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. Before installation, always take into account the permissible temperature range of the polyamide cage and the tolerance class P0/PN for the surrounding structure.
The dimensions are 50 mm bore diameter, 90 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width. Due to the tapered design of the 50 mm bore, the bearing seat in the inner ring tapers at a standardised ratio of 1:12. These dimensions correspond to manufacture to tolerance class P0.
The 2RS seal, which provides a double-sided seal, contacts the inner ring via elastic sealing lips. It prevents solid dirt particles, dust and moisture from entering the bearing interior. At the same time, the seal retains the lubricant within the bearing chamber, which helps to maintain operational readiness.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard clearance. This additional clearance is important for bearings with a tapered bore, as the inner ring expands when pressed axially onto the shaft or a sleeve, thereby reducing the bearing clearance. C3 prevents the bearing from running too tightly after assembly.
The suffix TVH indicates a polyamide cage. This cage material is characterised by its low weight, elastic guidance of the rolling elements and low-vibration, quiet operation. This material variant is suitable for the specified temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees and withstands dynamic accelerations of the rolling elements during operation.
Bearings with a tapered bore are either mounted directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, using a slotted clamping sleeve, onto a cylindrical shaft. When subjected to axial displacement, the connection becomes a positive fit. Fitters usually determine the correct interference fit by measuring the axial displacement or the measured reduction in bearing clearance.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow-spherical raceway in which the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring, can tilt freely. If shaft deflection or misalignment between the bearing housings occurs, the bearing compensates for the angular misalignment without inducing stress. This prevents damaging edge stresses and ensures smooth running.
