The FAG 2210-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing automatically compensates for misalignment with a 50 mm bore, 90 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width.
The FAG 2210-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design enables the two rows of balls to compensate for angular misalignment and elastic shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel with a cylindrical bore, this bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). As an open bearing, this version can be integrated directly into existing lubrication systems.
The 2210-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is suitable for mounting locations where misalignment between the shaft and housing, or shaft deflection under radial load, occurs. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the inner ring, together with the ball set, adjusts flexibly during operation without causing impermissible edge pressures. Typical applications include industrial uses involving long shafts or separate bearing housings, where the bearings are primarily subjected to radial loads and low axial forces.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a solid polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements with low friction. Compared to sheet steel cages, the material reduces running noise and lowers the weight of the bearing assembly. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As this is an unsealed bearing with a standard radial clearance, the choice of lubricant and lubrication intervals are adapted to the specific operating conditions.
The 2210-TVH self-aligning ball bearing has an inside diameter of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width across flats of 23 mm. These dimensions facilitate the precise design of shaft seats and bearing housings in industrial mechanical engineering.
At FAG, the suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a solid polyamide cage. This type of cage offers favourable sliding properties, reduces running noise and keeps frictional resistance low. It is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius; however, it is not suitable for contact with unsuitable lubricant additives.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow-spherical raceway in which both rows of balls move together. If the shaft tilts due to load or assembly tolerances, the inner ring and the balls in the outer ring pivot with it. This ensures that the loads are distributed evenly, without localised overloading at the edges of the raceway.
A standard radial bearing clearance ensures the intended operating clearance between the rolling elements and raceways when the bearing is installed. Provided that the fits on the shaft and housing are correctly matched and there are minimal temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, this bearing clearance class ensures stable bearing operation.
As this is an open design without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant is applied separately during assembly. The bearing can be filled with grease or incorporated into an oil circuit. External seals in the housing protect the bearing housing from contamination and prevent the lubricant from escaping.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material is characterised by high dimensional stability under load. The design is complemented by the lightweight polyamide cage, which guides the rows of balls evenly during operation.
