The FAG 2208 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 40x80x23 mm, reliably compensates for misalignment and protects against the ingress of dirt.
The 2208 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) for demanding industrial applications. The bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection, as the balls roll on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. Fitted with sliding seals and a polyamide cage, this design is suitable for applications where protection against contamination and smooth running are paramount.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where misalignment between the housing and the shaft cannot be avoided during operation. Thanks to its double-row ball design, the bearing can handle radial loads whilst allowing for angular misalignment in shaft mountings prone to deflection. The 2RS seals on both sides protect against the ingress of dust and moisture and retain the internal grease fill within the bearing housing.
The ‘K’ designation refers to the tapered inner ring bore with a ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on stepped shafts or using a shrink sleeve, allowing you to adjust the operating clearance precisely. The increased C3 bearing clearance class helps to ensure that sufficient radial clearance remains even after press-fitting onto the tapered seat or in the event of operational heating. The TVH cage, made of polyamide, ensures low weight and low-vibration operation.
A double-row spherical roller bearing from the 22 series, which compensates for angular misalignment thanks to its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This variant features a tapered bore, rubber seals that seal on both sides, a lightweight polyamide cage and an increased radial clearance (C3) for thermally and mechanically demanding operating conditions.
With a bore of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 23 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and is made from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design is intended for mounting on tapered shaft seats or cylindrical shafts using a suitable collet. When fitted axially, the required radial clearance can be precisely adjusted.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that exceeds the standard. When pressed onto a tapered seat, the internal clearance is reduced due to the design. The additional initial clearance ensures that the bearing runs without stress after installation and during thermal expansion caused by operation.
The synthetic rubber sealing washers, fitted on both sides so that they come into contact with each other, seal the interior against dirt particles, dust and splash water. At the same time, they retain the factory-applied grease inside the bearing, which reduces the maintenance required during operation.
This FAG bearing is approved for use in a temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the temperature resistance of the sliding seals and the polyamide cage (TVH).
