The 2208 -2RS-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 40x80x23 mm, compensates for misalignment and, thanks to its lip seals, protects against the ingress of dirt.
The 2208 -2RS-TVH self-aligning ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a double-row bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design enables automatic compensation for misalignment between the inner ring and the housing. With dimensions of 40 mm bore, 80 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width, the component primarily accommodates radial loads. The double-sided seal retains the lubricant inside and protects the rolling elements against dirt and moisture.
The 2208 -2RS-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is used in cases of elastic deflection of the shaft or misalignment between bearing seats. The spherical raceway dynamically compensates for moderate angular misalignment during operation without causing additional edge pressure on the rolling elements. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in bearing arrangements with longer support spans. As the seals prevent the ingress of particles, the component is also suitable for dusty environments.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the two rows of balls quietly and reduces the weight of the rotating mass. Together with the seals that seal on both sides, this design covers a temperature range from –30 to +100 degrees Celsius. The bearing features a standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). For maintenance personnel, the sealed 2RS design means minimal maintenance, as the factory-applied lubricant remains in place during normal operation.
This double-row roller bearing has a shared hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This allows both rows of balls to pivot together with the inner ring. The bearing automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, it primarily withstands radial loads.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 23 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for a precise fit on corresponding 40 mm shafts in bearing housings used in general mechanical engineering.
The designation 2RS refers to sliding seals fitted on both sides that are in contact with each other, which protect the interior of the bearing from foreign particles and moisture. The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by low noise levels and good guiding properties for the rows of balls.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +100 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily limited by the material of the polyamide cage and the sealing lips of the mechanical seal. The design is therefore intended for standard applications in industrial environments without extreme temperature peaks.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturer’s standard clearance between the balls and raceways when the bearing is unmounted. With standard fits, this clearance ensures that the rows of balls move smoothly after assembly and that no excessive stress is generated.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which is equivalent to the ABEC 1 standard. This class defines standardised dimensional and concentricity tolerances. It serves as a solid basis for conventional applications in general mechanical and plant engineering.
