The FAG 2207 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing (35x72x23 mm) compensates for misalignment during operation and protects against contamination thanks to 2RS seals on both sides.
The FAG self-aligning ball bearing 2207 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 is a double-row roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a 35 mm bore, 72 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, this bearing compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. Fitted with seals that make contact on both sides, it keeps out dust and dirt particles. The integrated polyamide cage ensures smooth running within a temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees Celsius.
This double-row self-aligning bearing is used wherever shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing seats occurs. Thanks to the movable row of balls, the design automatically compensates for both static and dynamic angular misalignment without noticeably increasing friction. Thanks to the 2RS seals, the component is particularly suitable for environments exposed to dust or moisture. Specialists frequently use this bearing arrangement in shaft lines with long support spans, as well as in housings with alignment deviations resulting from the manufacturing process.
The version with the suffix ‘K’ features a tapered internal bore with a ratio of 1:12. This enables secure mounting on cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. As the inner ring expands when pressed onto the taper, the bearing clearance is reduced. This is where the extended radial clearance C3 comes into play: it specifically compensates for the reduction in clearance caused by installation, as well as thermal expansion during operation between –30 and +100 degrees, to prevent the rolling elements from seizing.
The combination summarises the technical features: K stands for the tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12, and 2RS for seals that seal on both sides to prevent the ingress of dirt. TVH refers to the polyamide cage, and C3 stands for the slightly increased radial bearing clearance to compensate for assembly stresses and thermal expansion.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm, this model corresponds to the dimensions of the 2207 series. As the internal bore is tapered and tapers towards the shaft, this must be taken into account when selecting the appropriate shaft seat or clamping sleeve.
When the inner ring is slid axially onto a sleeve or a tapered shaft journal, the inner ring expands, thereby reducing the operating clearance. The increased bearing clearance (C3) ensures that, after assembly and at operating temperatures of up to +100 degrees, there is still sufficient radial clearance for the balls to circulate freely.
The cage, designated TVH, is made of polyamide. This material is lightweight and has vibration-damping properties, and guides the two rows of balls quietly. The polyamide cage retains its strength within the specified temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees Celsius.
Sealing lips fitted on both sides make contact with the contact surfaces of the inner ring and shield the interior from dust, dirt and moisture. At the same time, they retain the lubricant within the bearing housing and protect the raceways and rolling elements from premature wear caused by ingress of foreign particles.
This bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily determined by the materials used in the polyamide cage and the 2RS sealing elements. Within these limits, the standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sealing lips retain their dimensional stability during normal operation.
