The FAG 2207 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing (35x72x23 mm) compensates for angular misalignment and, thanks to its tapered bore, offers flexible mounting options.
The 2207 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6). The hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows the two rows of balls to compensate for misalignment and elastic shaft deflection during operation. Thanks to its open design, this bearing is suitable for applications where lubrication is supplied via the surrounding housing. A polyamide cage guides the rolling elements within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
Design engineers primarily use this self-aligning ball bearing where shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing seats may occur. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with long shaft sections or separately mounted housings. As the self-aligning ball bearing compensates for misalignment, it helps to prevent excessive edge pressures on the raceways. The open design without integrated sealing washers allows operation with both grease and in a circulating oil bath.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered inner ring bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for direct mounting on tapered shaft seats or mounting on cylindrical shafts using a clamping sleeve. The designation C3 stands for increased radial bearing clearance. This clearance is important for tapered seats: when the inner ring is pushed onto the shaft, it expands, thereby reducing the operating clearance. The C3 clearance accommodates this narrowing as well as operational thermal expansion.
The suffix ‘K’ indicates a tapered inner ring bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. Unlike bearings with a cylindrical bore, this variant can be mounted directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, with the aid of a mounting or withdrawal sleeve, onto smooth cylindrical shafts.
The designation C3 indicates that the radial bearing clearance is greater than the standard range. When the tapered inner ring is pressed onto a sleeve or shaft, the ring expands, which naturally reduces the bearing clearance. The C3 design ensures that sufficient clearance remains after assembly and during operation when the bearing heats up.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, elastic running properties and smooth operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As this roller bearing is manufactured without its own sealing washers, the lubricant must be supplied via the installation environment. Depending on the design, oil baths, circulating oil lubrication or manually applied grease are suitable. The bearing housing should be fitted with external seals to prevent the escape of lubricant and the ingress of dirt particles.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 35 mm at the bore, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm. It complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (comparable to ABEC 1) and thus meets the usual precision requirements of general mechanical engineering.
