The SKF 2207 ETN9 double-row self-aligning ball bearing measures 35 × 72 × 23 mm and, thanks to its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, compensates for misalignment during operation.
The SKF 2207 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm. Designed as an open bearing, it has a standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The shared spherical raceway in the outer ring allows the two rows of balls to adjust when shaft deflection or static misalignment occurs.
This double-row self-aligning ball bearing is suitable for mounting positions where shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing and the shaft needs to be compensated for. Typical applications include mounted shafts with longer support spans. As lubricant can circulate freely in this open design and the permissible temperature range extends from -30 to +120 degrees, the bearing is preferably used in sealed housings or with external housing seals.
The ETN9 version is fitted with a lightweight polyamide cage. This material results in a lower moving mass in the rolling element ring and ensures smooth ball rotation. When designing the bearing installation, care must be taken to ensure that the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees is maintained. Furthermore, the open design without integrated seals requires a clean installation environment and a regular supply of lubricant via the housing.
With an inner diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a total width of 23 mm, the roller bearing has standardised main dimensions. It has a standard inner ring and two rows of balls. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in suitable bearing housings and shaft seats.
At SKF, the suffix ETN9 denotes an injection-moulded polyamide cage. This material is characterised by good damping properties and a low weight. This reduces the rolling resistance of the rolling elements, contributing to smooth running and reduced noise levels.
The 2207 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the properties of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the strength of the polyamide cage remain stable. The actual operating limit also depends on the temperature resistance of the selected lubricant.
The raceway in the outer ring is spherical in shape. This allows the inner ring, the balls and the cage to tilt about the centre of the bearing. The bearing directly compensates for housing misalignment or shaft deflection under operating load, thereby preventing harmful edge stresses on the rolling elements.
As this self-aligning ball bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure using grease or oil. The bearing housing should be fitted with suitable external sealing elements to prevent the lubricant from escaping and to keep out dirt and moisture.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This standard tolerance defines standardised limit dimensions for the bore, outer diameter and running accuracy. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, this design meets the standard requirements in general mechanical and plant engineering.
