The FAG 2206 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing (30x62x20 mm) compensates for misalignment and features a tapered bore and increased C3 clearance.
The 2206 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This design enables the inner ring, together with the ball cages, to automatically compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this open bearing is suitable for designs with external housing lubrication. The polyamide cage ensures quiet running across a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing is primarily used where misalignment occurs between housings or where long shafts deflect elastically under load. Typical applications include designs with separate bearing housings and shaft runs prone to deflection. As it is designed as an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant used in the housing can be freely selected. The rolling bearing primarily absorbs radial loads and guides the shaft axially in both directions.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This internal profile allows mounting on tapered shaft seats or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, on smooth cylindrical shafts. The operating clearance can be adjusted by sliding the bearing axially along the taper. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) prevents excessive stress following press-fitting or when the bearing heats up, and contributes to smooth running.
As a double-row self-aligning ball bearing, this model has a 30 mm bore, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width of 20 mm. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment between the shaft and the housing.
The designation letter K denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This allows the roller bearing to be fitted either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or secured to a solid shaft using a locking sleeve.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. It compensates for the reduction in clearance that occurs when the inner ring is pressed onto the tapered seat, as well as that caused by thermal expansion during operation.
The suffix TVH indicates a polyamide cage. This material reduces the cage’s weight, ensures quiet operation and retains its shape within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The open design allows for direct lubricant replacement within the surrounding housing. In this version, protection against dirt and moisture is provided by external sealing elements such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals.
