The FAG 2206-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a 30 mm bore compensates for angular misalignment and ensures quiet operation thanks to its polyamide cage.
The 2206 -TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), manufactured to standard tolerance P0/PN (ABEC 1). Its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows the two rows of balls to automatically compensate for misalignment between the shaft and housing. With compact dimensions of 30 mm inner diameter, 62 mm outer diameter and 20 mm width, this open bearing primarily accommodates radial loads.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel prefer this design for bearing arrangements involving long shafts or split housings. If elastic deflection of the shaft or manufacturing-related misalignment occurs, the inner ring, together with the balls, tilts without causing harmful edge pressures on the raceways. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft guides that require a certain degree of angular flexibility. Thanks to its open design, the rolling bearing can be integrated directly into externally lubricated housing assemblies.
The TVH suffix denotes a solid polyamide cage that precisely guides the two rows of balls. Compared to sheet metal cages, the thermoplastic cage is characterised by its low weight and its vibration- and noise-damping properties. The permissible temperature range for this bearing is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As this model is manufactured with standard radial clearance, it is suitable for normal operating temperatures and standard shaft fits without exceptional thermal expansion.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 30 mm, an external diameter of 62 mm and a width of 20 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised dimensions for double-row self-aligning ball bearings. With these dimensions, it fits onto suitable shafts in industrial mechanical engineering.
At FAG, the designation TVH refers to a solid polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, good run-on properties and high damping. It ensures low-vibration operation and limits the operating temperature to a range between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
The outer ring has a continuous spherical raceway shaped like a hollow sphere. The two rows of balls on the inner ring can move freely within this shell. The bearing thus automatically compensates for misalignments between the inner and outer rings during operation without increased edge friction.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard internal clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This design is intended for applications where standard fit conditions and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings prevail, without the bearing clearance shrinking to an impermissible extent.
As an open bearing, this model has no integrated sealing washers and is not filled with grease at the factory. Lubrication is provided via the surrounding housing using a suitable lubricating oil or rolling-element bearing grease. The bearing housing must be structurally protected against the ingress of dirt and moisture.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made from conventional standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). This case-hardened steel offers high wear resistance and dimensional stability under load. The roller cage is made of polyamide, which keeps inertial forces to a minimum during rotation.
