The 2206 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 30 × 62 × 20 mm, compensates for misalignment and, thanks to its increased C3 bearing clearance, provides thermal reserves during operation.
The 2206 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing in tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 for rotating shafts. Manufactured by FAG Wälzlager, the bearing features a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. As a result, this design automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 62 mm and a width of 20 mm, the bearing meets standardised key dimensions. The open design is suitable for use in lubrication systems with oil lubrication or regular grease supply.
This design is primarily used where shafts deflect elastically under load or where manufacturing-related misalignments occur between separate bearing positions. The material, made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), absorbs the radial loads that occur. The open design allows lubricant to be supplied and monitored as required.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide cage which guides the two rows of balls quietly and dampens vibrations. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees. The designation ‘C3’ stands for a slightly increased radial clearance. This variant compensates for thermal expansion caused by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or compensates for bearing play when tight fits are selected. Before assembly, it is advisable to check whether the lubricants and operating temperatures are compatible with the polyamide cage.
The dimensions are exactly 30 mm bore diameter, 62 mm outside diameter and 20 mm width. These dimensions comply with the metric standard series for size 2206. The inner ring is designed as a standard cylindrical type, which means the bearing can be mounted directly onto a suitable 30 mm shaft.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow spherical raceway on the inside, within which the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring, can pivot freely. Consequently, shaft misalignment or housing offset do not result in edge running or forced forces. The component automatically compensates for elastic shaft deflections during rotation.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard clearance. This additional radial clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed if the inner ring expands due to press fits or becomes warmer than the outer ring during operation. Design engineers specifically use C3 bearings in applications subject to thermal loads.
The abbreviation TVH refers to a polyamide cage. This material dampens vibrations, reduces running noise and is characterised by its low weight. The cage retains its shape within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As there are no integrated lip seals or cover plates, lubricating oil or grease reaches the raceways directly from the outside. In practice, the bearing assembly requires a sealed housing to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber and to prevent contaminants from reaching the rolling elements.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This class specifies the dimensional and concentricity accuracy of the bearing rings for general industrial applications. It allows for straightforward replacement in existing assemblies without the need for special fits on the shaft or housing bore.
