The FAG 2205 -2RS-TVH self-aligning ball bearing (25x52x18 mm) compensates for misalignment and, thanks to its 2RS seal, provides effective protection against contamination.
The FAG 2205 -2RS-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing is a rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm. The design, featuring a common hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring, serves to compensate for static and dynamic angular misalignments between the shaft and housing. Design engineers and maintenance personnel use this design primarily where misalignment or deflection occurs and protection against the ingress of foreign particles is required at the same time.
This double-row rolling bearing is used wherever misalignments in housing bores or elastic deflections of rotating shafts need to be reliably compensated for. Typical operating conditions include bearing locations with high levels of dust and dirt, where open designs would wear out quickly. Thanks to the double-sided sliding seal, the lubricant remains protected within the bearing chamber, meaning that no external housing seal is required against moderate contamination.
The 2RS seal, which abuts on both sides, protects against the ingress of dirt and moisture and reliably retains the lubricant inside the bearing. The TVH polyamide cage is characterised by its elastic guidance of the rolling elements, low weight and smooth running. The bearing is designed for temperatures ranging from -30 to +100 degrees. It is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance and the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), suitable for common bearing seats in mechanical engineering.
The dimensions are 25 mm internal diameter, 52 mm external diameter and 18 mm width. It is a double-row self-aligning ball bearing in standard dimensions. Thanks to these standard metric dimensions, the bearing can be fitted directly into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats during repairs or new designs.
The shared hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring allows the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring and cage, to align themselves freely. The bearing thus compensates for misalignment between housings and shaft deflection during operation without causing excessive edge pressures or premature wear on the rolling elements.
The suffix 2RS denotes abiding seals fitted on both sides. These contacting sealing lips seal the gap between the inner and outer rings. They protect the raceways from dirt and moisture whilst retaining lubricants within the bearing chamber, thereby reducing maintenance requirements.
The TVH cage is made of polyamide and guides the balls in both rows smoothly and quietly. The plastic is characterised by its low mass and favourable running characteristics. In combination with 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, the bearing is specified for continuous operation at temperatures ranging from -30 to +100 degrees Celsius.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, which is designed for typical fits on the shaft and in the housing. Radial bearing clearance describes the amount of play between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unloaded. With standard bearing clearance, no separate designation such as C3 is required by the manufacturer.
The spherical roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN in accordance with DIN/ISO, as well as ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance covers the standard requirements for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy in maintenance and mechanical engineering, thereby ensuring dimensional interchangeability within the bearing seat.
