FAG 2313 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a tapered bore, C3 clearance and main dimensions of 65 × 140 × 48 mm for demanding industrial applications.
The FAG 2313 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation thanks to its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6 in tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this open rolling bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. The polyamide cage guides the two rows of balls with low friction and low vibration.
This self-aligning bearing is used when operational misalignments or shaft deflection need to be compensated for. In the case of rigid bearings, such misalignments frequently lead to edge loading, whilst the spherical outer ring raceway of this bearing automatically compensates for angular deviations. Typical applications include industrial shaft mountings with deflection or larger support spans. The open design, without abiding seals, allows for flexible lubrication with grease or oil via the housing design.
The suffix ‘K’ refers to the tapered bore with a 1:12 taper, which allows mounting directly onto a tapered bearing seat or onto cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3 compensates for the reduction in radial clearance that occurs when the inner ring is slid onto the tapered fit. Furthermore, this clearance class accommodates operational temperature differences between the inner ring and the outer ring, thereby preventing undesirable stresses in the rolling element set.
The double-row bearing has an inside diameter of 65 mm at the bore, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a width of 48 mm. Thanks to the standardised dimensions of the 2313 series, the component can be fitted precisely into corresponding bearing housings or machine frames.
The letter K denotes a tapered inner ring bore with a standard taper of 1:12. This design allows the bearing to be mounted on cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve, as well as on tapered shaft seats. By sliding the inner ring onto the shaft, the operating clearance can be precisely adjusted during installation.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. It compensates for the reduction in bearing clearance that inevitably occurs when the bearing is pressed onto tapered seats or shaft sleeves. It also prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed due to thermal expansion of the inner ring.
The abbreviation TVH refers to a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight and favourable friction coefficients when in contact with the balls. The bearing fitted with this cage is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As an open roller bearing without sealing washers, this design requires an external lubricant supply via the surrounding housing. Depending on the application requirements, it is operated using grease or lubricating oil, with the housing seal preventing dirt particles from entering the bearing interior.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to international class ABEC 1. This standard precision meets the requirements of typical industrial designs and ensures that the fit dimensions between the shaft and the housing bore are maintained.
