The FAG 1307 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, with a 35 mm tapered bore and C3 clearance, compensates for misalignment during operation.
The FAG 1307 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing absorbs radial forces and automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The hollow-spherical outer ring raceway guides two rows of balls, which run in an elastic polyamide cage. With key dimensions of a 35 mm bore, 80 mm outer diameter and 21 mm width, made from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, this open design covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
Designs featuring long shafts or split housings are prone to elastic deflection and misalignment during operation. This self-aligning bearing compensates for angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings without causing impermissible additional stresses. Design engineers prefer to integrate the bearing unit into shaft mountings prone to deflection. As this is an open rolling bearing without integrated sealing washers, lubrication and protection against contamination are provided by the surrounding machine housing.
The suffix ‘K’ refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for a positive-fit mounting using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve on smooth shaft journals as well as on stepped shafts. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3 accounts for the design-related loss of clearance when sliding the bearing onto the tapered seat. At the same time, this increased operating clearance provides a margin to accommodate temperature differences between the rotating inner ring and the stationary outer ring.
This double-row bearing has a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This allows the ball cages to adjust angularly in the event of shaft misalignment. This design features a tapered bore, a dimensionally stable polyamide cage and a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1.
The bearing has a bore of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 21 mm. The bore is tapered with a taper ratio of 1:12, which allows the use of suitable clamping sleeves or directly conical shaft seats.
The abbreviation TVH refers to a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements. This material reduces the cage’s weight, minimises friction losses and operates quietly within the permissible temperature range of between -30 and +120 degrees.
When the bearing is pressed onto a tapered bearing seat or a shrink sleeve, the inner ring expands elastically. This expansion reduces the existing radial clearance. The increased bearing clearance class C3 helps to ensure that, after axial installation, sufficient operating clearance remains to allow for smooth running.
The open design has no integrated seals and is not pre-filled with grease by the manufacturer. Grease or lubricating oil is applied during assembly in accordance with the specifications for the bearing housing. The bearing housing must be fitted with suitable external seals to retain the lubricant.
