FAG 1203 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing with a 17 mm bore, a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway and increased C3 clearance for angular misalignment compensation.
The 1203 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with main dimensions of 17x40x12 mm. Thanks to the common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing automatically compensates for shaft deflection or misalignment. This FAG product is supplied as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This bearing is used when operational shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing and the shaft needs to be compensated for. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with long shafts or elastic deformations under radial loads. As this is an open design without integrated sealing elements, the component is designed for oil- or grease-lubricated bearing arrangements where sealing is provided externally via the housing design.
The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage, which guides the rolling elements with low vibration and reduces the moment of inertia compared to metal cages. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard CN version. This additional bearing clearance helps to prevent stress build-up during operation when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings, or when a tight fit causes the inner ring to expand.
This double-row bearing features a continuous hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This enables the two rows of balls to compensate for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. The design, with an inner diameter of 17 mm and an outer diameter of 40 mm, compensates for misalignment without the rolling elements being subjected to excessive loads from forced forces.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 17 mm, an outer diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm. It complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (comparable to ABEC 1) and features a standard cylindrical inner ring for direct mounting on the shaft.
The designation C3 indicates that the radial bearing clearance as supplied is greater than that of the standard clearance (CN). This design is intended to compensate for temperature-induced expansion of the shaft or dimensional changes by means of a fixed press fit, without the bearing seizing up during operation.
The designation TVH refers to a polyamide cage. This material ensures that the balls are guided smoothly and helps to ensure quiet operation. Furthermore, the polyamide cage is resistant to common lubricants within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As the bearing is designed without factory-fitted sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the raceways and balls directly. Once installed, you can supply it with grease or oil via the surrounding housing. It is important to ensure that the housing is sealed externally against dirt and moisture.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material offers proven dimensional stability and, in combination with the polyamide cage, is suitable for use in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
