The FAG 2305-tvh-c3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, with an outer diameter of 62 mm, automatically compensates for angular misalignment caused by shaft deflection in industrial applications.
The FAG 2305-tvh-c3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel with a cylindrical bore. Thanks to the shared spherical raceway in the outer ring, this design compensates for static and dynamic misalignments between the inner and outer rings. The component has an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width of 24 mm. As an open rolling bearing, it allows for the unhindered supply of lubricants within the housing.
Its use is primarily recommended where elastic shaft deflection or misalignment between bearing seats occurs. In such environments, the double-row design guides the balls into two grooves in the inner ring, whilst the spherical outer ring raceway accommodates angular misalignments without placing additional edge loads on the bearing. The rolling bearing is designed for operating temperatures from -30 to +120 °C and keeps friction low even when tilted.
The TVH version features a lightweight, solid polyamide cage, which ensures smooth running and minimises friction losses. The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance as standard. This additional clearance serves to counteract any distortion of the rolling elements when press fits cause the inner ring to expand or when temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing. In open bearings of this design, protection against contamination is provided by the surrounding housing.
The design absorbs radial forces and automatically compensates for misalignment or elastic shaft deflection. A shared spherical raceway in the outer ring allows both rows of balls to swing out freely. This enables angular misalignment to be compensated for without impermissible edge pressures impairing operation.
With an external diameter of 62 mm and a total width of 24 mm, the component has standardised external dimensions. The design features a cylindrical bore and is fitted directly onto the corresponding shaft, thereby enabling precise alignment within the bearing housing.
The letter code TVH denotes a polyamide roller cage. This thermoplastic material reduces the weight of the rotating parts and ensures good emergency running properties in the event of a brief lack of lubricant. Furthermore, the plastic cage absorbs shocks and helps to minimise noise during operation.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that exceeds the normal standard. This increased clearance between the rolling elements and raceways compensates for dimensional constrictions caused by tight fits during press-fitting. The C3 clearance also accommodates thermal expansion during continuous operation, which is intended to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
Without integrated sealing washers, the open design allows unimpeded access of lubricant in the case of external lubrication. This design is suitable for systems in which lubricating oil or grease is supplied directly via the housing. The housing provides a seal against dirt and moisture.
A temperature range of between -30 and +120 °C is specified for continuous operation of the bearing. This range is defined by the standard rolling-bearing steel and the polyamide cage. When designing the bearing, care must be taken to ensure that the lubricant used is also suitable for the respective operating temperature.
