The FAG 1302-TVH spherical ball bearing compensates for misalignment caused by shaft deflection and, with dimensions of 15 × 42 × 13 mm, offers a compact design for industrial bearing applications.
The 1302-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, which accommodates radial loads and compensates for angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. As it is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the component can withstand mechanical stresses. It has a 15 mm bore, an outer diameter of 42 mm and a width of 13 mm. Design engineers and users employ this design primarily in bearing locations where shafts deflect elastically under operational loads or where there are misalignments resulting from the manufacturing process.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs with solid shafts where misalignment may occur between spaced bearing seats. Thanks to the shared hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the two rows of balls adapt to angular movement during operation without causing impermissible edge pressures. Typical applications include rolling bearing arrangements with elastic shaft deflection or misalignment caused by installation. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant requirements can be individually adapted to the operating environment.
The TVH suffix denotes a solid polyamide cage. This material has a low weight and guides the balls through the raceway with low noise and vibration damping. In combination with standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the roller bearing operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. To protect the interior from contamination, a suitable external seal is recommended around the housing.
A continuous hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring allows the two rows of balls to pivot freely when the shaft bends. This design enables the inner ring, together with the ball set, to automatically compensate for shaft misalignment or housing deviations during operation, thereby preventing edge pressures on the rolling elements.
The dimensions are 15 mm bore diameter, 42 mm outside diameter and 13 mm width. With these standardised dimensions, the double-row bearing fits into the corresponding housing seats. As it is manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the bearing body is characterised by high dimensional stability.
The designation TVH, as used by the manufacturer FAG, refers to a solid polyamide cage. This plastic cage guides the rolling elements quietly with low friction and offers good damping properties. The material is designed for use at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
With this open bearing, which has no integrated seals, the lubricant is applied directly into the bearing chamber during initial assembly. The open design allows for the free circulation of grease or oil, as well as straightforward relubrication whilst the equipment is in operation. An external housing seal must be fitted to protect against contamination.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance and complies with the standard values for common shaft and housing fits. The manufacturing accuracy complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This design meets standard industrial requirements for dimensional accuracy and concentricity.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted, the material properties of which are designed for this range. The externally applied lubricant must also be specified for the temperatures encountered within this range.
