The FAG 2310 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 50 × 110 × 40 mm, compensates for misalignment via a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway.
The 2310 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from bearing steel (100Cr6) that accommodates radial loads. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing adjusts to shaft deflection with angular adjustment. The combination of a tapered bore (1:12 taper), a polyamide cage and increased C3 bearing clearance creates practical conditions for industrial applications within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This double-row rolling bearing is designed for constructions where elastic shaft deflection or misalignment occurs between the bearing locations. As the outer ring has a shared hollow ball raceway for both rows of balls, the rolling elements compensate for misalignments during operation without any binding. It is primarily used in shaft mountings with longer support spans or statically indeterminate mountings, where misalignment of the housing bores must be compensated for due to the design.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows mounting on a tapered bearing seat or, using a shrink sleeve, on cylindrical shafts. When slid onto the taper, the inner ring expands, thereby reducing the radial clearance. The increased C3 bearing clearance helps to prevent the bearing from becoming seized after axial locking or as a result of operational heating. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements quietly and smoothly.
The double-row roller bearing has a hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring, which enables it to automatically compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection. With a bore of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 40 mm, it is suitable for radial loads whilst simultaneously compensating for misalignment.
The abbreviation denotes three design features: the ‘K’ stands for the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. The abbreviation ‘TVH’ indicates a polyamide cage, whilst ‘C3’ denotes an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version.
The increased bearing clearance C3 compensates for the radial bearing play, which is reduced when the tapered inner ring is pushed axially onto the shaft seat or the clamping sleeve. It helps to ensure that sufficient clearance remains for smooth operation, even when the bearing heats up during operation.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no integrated seals and requires the housing to be sealed externally. Lubrication can be carried out as required using grease or oil, depending on the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
Bearings with a tapered bore can be mounted directly onto a tapered shaft journal or onto cylindrical shafts using a suitable adapter sleeve. The bearing is secured by axially sliding the inner ring; the measurable reduction in radial clearance serves as an indicator of a correct fit.
