The FAG 1303-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a 17 mm bore compensates for misalignment and ensures quiet shaft operation.
The 1303-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This design enables the two rows of balls to compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Designed as an open bearing, this version allows for targeted lubrication via the surrounding housing structure. With tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the component complies with the standard precision requirements for continuous industrial use.
This design is suitable for applications where misalignment occurs between the housing and the shaft, or where the shaft deflects elastically under load. The bearing primarily absorbs radial loads and, thanks to its angularly adjustable design, prevents damaging edge stresses which, in rigid constructions, lead to premature wear. Due to the spherical outer ring raceway, the two rows of balls automatically compensate for angular misalignment during operation.
The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage which guides the rolling elements and contributes to quiet running. The plastic material ensures that the guided components have a low mass and reduces the effects of friction within the bearing. The specified temperature range for use is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As this is an open bearing, lubrication and protection against contamination are provided by the surrounding structure.
This double-row roller bearing automatically compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. Thanks to the shared spherical raceway in the outer ring, it accommodates shaft deflection and misalignment without causing localised overloads at the edges. The component features a lightweight polyamide cage and standard radial clearance.
The bearing has a bore of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. The inner ring is of a standard cylindrical design. These dimensions are standardised and allow for direct fitting onto suitable 17 mm shafts in bearing housings with the appropriate tolerances.
At FAG, the suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a design featuring a polyamide cage. This plastic cage is characterised by low friction and a low moment of inertia. It contributes to smooth running, but limits the bearing’s operating range to temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated sealing washers or cover plates. They are suitable for bearing locations that are supplied with oil or grease via a sealed housing. This design allows the lubricant to flow through unimpeded and facilitates relubrication as part of regular maintenance intervals.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (Group CN). This radial clearance is designed to ensure reliable concentricity without thermal or mechanical distortion, provided that the tolerances of the shaft and housing are correct and operating temperatures are within the normal range.
The rings and balls are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This case-hardened chrome steel offers high dimensional stability and compressive strength under radial loads. Combined with dimensional and running accuracy to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this model is suitable for precision industrial applications.
