FAG double-row self-aligning ball bearing 2307 -K-TVH-C3 with tapered bore (35x80x31 mm), slightly increased C3 clearance and a polyamide cage to compensate for misalignment.
The FAG 2307 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design automatically compensates for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. With key dimensions of 35 mm bore diameter, 80 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width, this open bearing offers a high radial load-carrying capacity. The integrated polyamide cage ensures quiet, low-friction operation in demanding industrial drives.
This self-aligning ball bearing is primarily used where flexible shafts or misalignment between bearing housings occur. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with long shafts or separate housings in general mechanical engineering. As the outer ring allows the ball rows to be freely adjusted, the bearing prevents disruptive edge pressures during deflection. In protected or separately sealed housings, the design benefits from the open construction, which allows for a flexible supply of lubricant via oil or grease.
The tapered bore with a 1:12 taper simplifies assembly on tapered shaft seats or, using standardised adapter sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3) compensates for the inevitable reduction in radial clearance when the inner ring is pushed on axially. At the same time, it accommodates thermal expansion within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. The polyamide cage (TVH) offers excellent elasticity and low weight. When selecting bearings, take into account tolerance class P0/PN to ensure precise concentricity.
The roller bearing has a bore diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a width of 31 mm. It complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and is made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. These dimensions must be taken into account when designing the shaft seat and housing bore.
The letter K denotes a tapered bore with a standard taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for direct mounting on a tapered shaft or for fixing to a cylindrical shaft using a suitable clamping or withdrawal sleeve, which facilitates subsequent removal.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. When the tapered inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, the bearing clearance is reduced due to the design. The C3 version ensures that sufficient operating clearance remains even after the bearing has been secured on the shaft and during operation-induced heating in the range from -30 to +120 degrees.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a solid polyamide cage that guides the two rows of balls. This material is characterised by a low moment of inertia and high elasticity. The cage absorbs shock loads, reduces running noise and is designed for use within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As an open bearing without integrated seals, the bearing housing requires a seal on the housing side as well as a lubrication system tailored to its requirements. Depending on the design specifications and operating speed, the double-row bearing can be flexibly lubricated using either grease or oil.
The rolling elements run on a common hollow spherical raceway within the outer ring. Thanks to this spherical shape, the ball unit, together with the inner ring, can adjust freely within the outer ring within defined limits. Misalignment of the housing or deflection of the shaft therefore does not result in edge pressures on the rolling elements.
