The FAG 2216 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing compensates for misalignment and, with dimensions of 80 × 140 × 33 mm, offers a robust load-carrying capacity for demanding shaft mountings.
The FAG 2216 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing is designed for mounting positions with shaft deflection or misalignment. Thanks to the shared hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the two rows of balls self-align during operation. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, this open rolling bearing combines mechanical strength with smooth running. The design complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and is suitable for industrial applications where angular misalignment needs to be elastically compensated.
This self-aligning bearing is primarily used where long shafts are prone to deflection or where misalignment occurs between the housing seats. Thanks to its double-row design, the bearing absorbs radial forces as well as axial forces acting on both sides, whilst compensating for misalignment. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering in shaft guides prone to deflection. As the bearing is an open design, the lubricant can be flexibly adapted to the specific operating environment.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This allows the bearing to be mounted either directly onto tapered shaft journals or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, onto cylindrical shafts. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3 prevents the internal bearing clearance from decreasing to an impermissible level during radial mounting or as a result of operational heating. In addition, the TVH polyamide cage ensures low inertia and quiet running within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
A double-row ball bearing with a continuous spherical outer ring raceway. This design enables the two rows of balls to compensate for angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings without any significant increase in friction. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, this open bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The bearing has a bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 33 mm. The internal bore has a 1:12 taper, which facilitates precise adjustment of the radial bearing play during mounting on the shaft seat.
The tapered bore, marked ‘K’, is designed for mounting on tapered shaft journals or on cylindrical shafts with the aid of a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. When the inner ring is pushed on axially, it expands elastically. This reduces the radial bearing clearance in a controlled manner until the desired interference fit is achieved.
The designation C3 indicates a greater radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. As the radial clearance is reduced when the tapered inner ring is clamped, the C3 clearance helps to ensure that an appropriate bearing clearance is maintained during operation. It also compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The suffix TVH indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, dampens vibrations and promotes smooth running of the rolling elements. The cage design is rated for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open pendulum ball bearing, this model does not have any integrated seals. You must therefore lubricate the bearing with a suitable grease or oil during commissioning. Furthermore, the installation site requires an external housing seal to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
