The FAG 2306 -TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 30x72x27 mm, compensates for misalignment and features increased C3 clearance.
The FAG 2306 -TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing is an open rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore. The design is characterised by a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This enables the bearing to automatically compensate for shaft misalignment as well as static or dynamic angular misalignment. Fitted with a lightweight polyamide cage and manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this component is suitable for operating conditions within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This self-aligning ball bearing is particularly suitable for bearing locations where shaft deflection occurs or where misalignment between housings needs to be compensated for. The two rows of balls absorb radial forces and allow for swivelling movements without causing excessive edge stresses. Maintenance engineers and designers frequently use this design for long shafts or separately mounted housing bearings in general mechanical engineering. As this is an open bearing, you can integrate it directly into existing lubrication circuits or lubricate it with grease via the bearing housing.
The suffixes TVH and C3 denote specific functional characteristics of this rolling bearing. The abbreviation TVH stands for a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and reduces the weight of the rolling element assembly. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with standard clearance. This increased internal clearance prevents the bearing from becoming stressed when it heats up during operation or due to tight fits. Open designs require an external seal to prevent lubricant loss and the ingress of dirt.
The dimensions are 30 mm internal diameter, 72 mm external diameter and 27 mm width. The cylindrical bore allows for direct mounting on a suitable shaft without a collet. The external dimensions determine the installation space required within the housing.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. The additional clearance between the balls and raceways compensates for operational thermal expansion of the shaft and inner ring. This ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly even when tight fits reduce the internal bearing clearance after installation.
The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the inertial forces of the ball rings, operates quietly and has good sliding properties. Within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees, the cage guides the rolling elements between the raceways of the inner and outer rings.
As this roller bearing is of an open design and has no integrated sealing washers, it must be filled with grease manually or connected to an oil lubrication system prior to commissioning. An external housing seal serves to prevent the lubricant from escaping and to protect the raceways from ingress of dirt particles.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance, comparable to ABEC 1). This accuracy class covers the standard requirements in general mechanical engineering and fixture manufacturing. It defines standardised dimensional and running tolerances for installation in cylindrical shaft seats and in matching housings.
The outer ring has a continuous spherical raceway in which the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring, can move freely. In the event of misalignment or slight deflection of the shaft, the inner ring pivots within the outer ring without the rolling elements becoming jammed or undue additional stresses arising in the bearing.
