The FAG 1213 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, with a tapered bore and dimensions of 65 × 120 × 23 mm, automatically compensates for misalignment during operation.
The FAG 1213 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design enables the two rows of balls to compensate for misalignment and shaft deflection. With dimensions of 65 mm bore diameter, 120 mm outer diameter and 23 mm width, the component is suitable for heavily loaded bearing positions in mechanical engineering. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Its use is recommended for bearing locations where misalignment between the housing and the shaft occurs or where elastic shaft deflection needs to be compensated for. Such conditions typically arise with long shafts, where rigid bearings would lead to unacceptable residual stresses. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the lubricant and external sealing must be selected to suit the operating environment. The design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as low axial loads.
The suffix ‘K’ indicates a tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. This geometry allows for mounting directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, onto a cylindrical shaft. When pushed on axially, the inner ring expands, thereby reducing the bearing clearance. The slightly increased radial clearance C3 accommodates this expansion and prevents internal stresses under thermal loading. The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
The self-aligning ball bearing has a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm. The two rows of balls run on a common spherical outer ring raceway. The bearing is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. The radial operating clearance can be precisely adjusted during installation by means of the axial displacement of the inner ring on the taper.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. As the inner ring expands radially when tightened onto a tapered bearing seat or sleeve, the internal clearance is reduced. The increased initial clearance helps to ensure that the bearing does not run too tightly after installation.
The cage, marked TVH, is made of polyamide and keeps the balls at a uniform distance apart. This material reduces the weight of the rotating components and helps to ensure quiet operation. The permissible temperature range for the component fitted with this cage is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open bearing, this version has no factory-fitted sealing washers and is unfilled. You should apply the appropriate grease or lubricating oil during assembly, in accordance with the application requirements. External housing seals serve to prevent the ingress of dirt and to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
The outer ring of the bearing has a continuous hollow spherical raceway. This allows the inner ring, cage and balls to adjust their angle continuously within certain limits when the shaft is misaligned. The bearing automatically compensates for angular misalignment caused by manufacturing tolerances in the housing or shaft deflection whilst in operation.
