The FAG 2311 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing (55x120x43 mm) compensates for misalignment and, thanks to its C3 radial clearance, ensures reliable operation under thermal conditions.
The 2311 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is an open, double-row rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. This design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. With a tapered bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm, this bearing is suitable for demanding applications in mechanical and plant engineering under varying operating conditions.
The use of this self-aligning ball bearing is particularly recommended where misalignment occurs between the inner and outer rings, or where shafts deflect elastically under load. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with long shafts or designs with static and dynamic misalignments. The open design allows for flexible lubrication with grease or oil directly via the surrounding housing. Thanks to its permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the bearing performs well in industrial environments subject to standard thermal loads.
The designation ‘K’ indicates a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12, which allows mounting on shrink sleeves or pull-off sleeves. The abbreviation ‘TVH’ refers to a polyamide cage, which ensures smooth running and low moving mass. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) reduces the risk of the rolling elements becoming jammed if the radial clearance shrinks due to a tight fit or operational heating. The component complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This roller bearing has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm. As a double-row bearing, it effectively absorbs radial forces. Before installation, it is advisable to check the bearing seat to ensure a precise fit within the housing.
The letter K denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for mounting on conical shaft seats or for installation on cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. The axial travel can be used to precisely adjust the fit during press-fitting.
The designation C3 indicates that the radial bearing clearance is greater than normal when the bearing is supplied. This clearance is reduced when the bearing is pressed onto tapered seats. The C3 design ensures that, after assembly and following operational heating, there remains sufficient bearing clearance to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
The suffix ‘TVH’ indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by good sliding properties, low weight and low friction. The polyamide cage ensures smooth running during operation and reliably covers the specified temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
As this is an open design without integrated sealing washers, the bearing must be filled with grease or lubricating oil before commissioning. In addition, the housing must be fitted with suitable seals to ensure that the lubricant remains inside and that no dirt particles can enter.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow-spherical raceway for both rows of balls. In the event of misalignment or slight skewing, the inner ring, together with the rolling elements, swivels freely within this raceway. This prevents damaging edge pressures and compensates for elastic shaft deflection during operation.
