The FAG 2309 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 45 × 100 × 36 mm with a tapered bore and 2RS seals on both sides, automatically compensates for misalignment in shaft-bearing assemblies.
Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the double-row design accommodates shaft deflection and axial displacement during operation without generating harmful forced forces. The shared hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring guides both rows of balls with low friction and accommodates angular misalignment. Thanks to the seal that runs on both sides, the lubricant remains within the bearing chamber, whilst dirt particles and moisture are effectively kept out. The integrated polyamide cage ensures smooth running within a temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees.
Designs featuring long shafts or flexible support structures are prone to deflection or misalignment between the bearing seats under operational loads. The 2309 -K-2RS-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing primarily accommodates radial loads and tolerates misalignment without increased edge pressure. It is primarily used in applications where ambient dust or splashing water is present and a sealed rolling bearing, protected against contamination, is required.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve and allows for precise adjustment of the bearing clearance. When the bearing is slid onto the tapered seat to the specified extent, the radial clearance is measurably reduced. The increased bearing clearance class C3 helps to ensure that the required operating clearance is maintained after assembly and during operation-induced heating.
The self-aligning ball bearing has a bore diameter of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 36 mm. The inner ring has a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. With a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing complies with the standard industrial accuracy standards for rolling bearings.
TVH refers to a cage made of polyamide, which securely guides both rows of balls and keeps them separate from one another. This material is characterised by its low weight and elastic running properties. The polyamide cage is designed for use in a temperature range from -30 to +100 degrees.
C3 denotes an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. In the case of bearings with a tapered bore, the internal bearing clearance is reduced during mounting onto the tapered seat or a mounting sleeve. The increased bearing clearance helps to ensure that, after installation and as a result of operational heating, sufficient operating clearance is maintained for low-friction operation.
Sealing lips fitted on both sides seal the bearing cavity along the inner ring. They keep the lubricant inside and prevent dirt particles and moisture from entering the raceways. This sealed design protects the rolling elements from external environmental influences.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel. This through-hardened bearing steel offers high wear resistance and dimensional stability under radial loads, which helps to ensure an even distribution of load across the two rows of balls during operation.
