The FAG 1206 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing, with dimensions of 30x62x16 mm, enables automatic angular misalignment compensation and features an increased C3 radial clearance.
The double-row 1206 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing from FAG primarily accommodates radial loads and automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 in tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this open rolling bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. The shared hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring guides the two rows of balls with low friction and ensures smooth running even under static or dynamic misalignment.
Designs with larger spans between bearing locations tend to develop misalignments between the inner and outer rings during operation. The 1206 -TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing compensates for such installation inaccuracies or elastic deflections directly within the bearing arrangement, without causing impermissible edge stresses. As an open bearing without integrated seals, this design allows for lubrication tailored to requirements directly via the housing system.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and low rotating masses. The radial bearing clearance ‘C3’ indicates increased bearing clearance compared to the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for interference fits on the shaft and for thermal expansion when a temperature gradient occurs between the inner and outer rings. When designing the bearing mounting, an external seal must be provided to protect the rolling bearing from foreign particles.
Two rows of balls run on a common hollow spherical outer ring, enabling this bearing to automatically compensate for misalignment and angular misalignment. The component has the following main dimensions: 30 mm bore, 62 mm outer diameter and 16 mm width. It is made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The designation TVH refers to a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the rotating components, operates quietly and has good elastic properties. The cage guides the rolling elements precisely and keeps friction in the bearing to a minimum, provided the operating temperature remains between -30 and +120 degrees.
C3 denotes an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This design prevents the bearing from becoming stressed after installation in the event of tight fits or operational temperature differences between the shaft and the housing. In this way, smooth running is maintained even when the components undergo thermal expansion.
Open roller bearings are supplied ex-works without sealing washers or lubricant. Grease or lubricating oil can therefore be selected to suit the specific operating conditions and speeds. For continuous operation, the bearing housing requires external sealing to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
The bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which is equivalent to ABEC 1. This tolerance class covers the typical dimensional and running accuracies required in industrial mechanical engineering and ensures a precise fit on standardised shaft and housing fits.
