FAG 2213 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing: a double-row rolling bearing with a 65 mm tapered bore, C3 clearance and a polyamide cage to compensate for misalignment.
The 2213 -K-TVH-C3 from FAG is a double-row roller bearing made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with the main dimensions of a 65 mm bore, 120 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width. Thanks to the shared spherical raceway in the outer ring, the design flexibly compensates for misalignment and angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. As an open bearing, this version is designed for external lubrication systems and covers an operating temperature range from –30 to +120 degrees.
This double-row rolling bearing is designed for shaft mountings and drives where elastic deflection or misalignment occurs. The oscillating ball row helps to prevent excessive edge pressures in the event of angular misalignment and promotes low-friction concentricity.
The open design is intended for use in protected housings with oil or grease lubrication. In designs with larger bearing clearances or dynamic loads, the angular mobility compensates for installation inaccuracies.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered inner ring bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This allows the bearing to be mounted directly onto tapered shaft journals or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, onto cylindrical shafts.
During press-fitting, the bearing clearance is reduced due to the design. This is where the C3 feature comes into play: the slightly increased radial clearance helps to ensure that, after axial press-fitting, sufficient operating clearance remains for smooth running. The dimensionally stable polyamide cage (TVH) guides the balls quietly in tolerance class P0/PN.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 65 mm at the bore, an external diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 31 mm. It is a double-row roller bearing in the standardised tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), made from high-strength 100Cr6 bearing steel.
The designation ‘K’ denotes a tapered inner ring bore with a pitch of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered bearing seats or allows flexible mounting on cylindrical shafts using a suitable locking sleeve. You adjust the fit via the axial displacement.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. As the inner ring expands elastically when fitted onto the tapered seat or the clamping sleeve, the internal clearance is reduced. The C3 bearing clearance ensures that the bearing retains sufficient clearance during operation and when heated.
The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage that maintains an even spacing between the two rows of balls. Polyamide is characterised by its low weight, elastic behaviour and quiet operation. It is designed for the bearing’s permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As the bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways directly. It is usually fitted in sealed housings containing grease or lubricating oil, which have their own housing seals to keep the lubricant within the system.
The spherical inner surface of the outer ring allows the two rows of balls to pivot together with the inner ring. As a result, the rolling bearing compensates for static and dynamic angular misalignments and elastic shaft deflection during operation without any impermissible forced forces acting on the raceways.
