The FAG 2212 -K-TVH-C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a 60 mm tapered bore compensates for misalignment and is suitable for industrial bearing applications.
The FAG 2212 -K-TVH-C3 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. With key dimensions of a 60 mm bore, 110 mm outer diameter and 28 mm width, this bearing primarily accommodates radial forces. Thanks to its self-aligning design, it automatically compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. As an open design, the bearing is designed for operation with external lubrication.
The bearing is primarily used in bearing locations where operational shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing seats needs to be compensated for. Thanks to the 100Cr6 material and the elastic polyamide cage, the rolling bearing operates within a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Typical applications are found in mechanical and plant engineering for shafts prone to deflection.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12, which allows the bearing to be flexibly mounted using a shrink sleeve or directly onto a tapered shaft seat. The designation C3 stands for a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This increased operating clearance compensates for the radial reduction in bearing clearance when the inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, as well as for thermal expansion during operation.
This roller bearing has a bore diameter of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width across flats of 28 mm. The bore is tapered at a ratio of 1:12. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel.
The letter K indicates a tapered inner ring bore with a standard taper of 1:12. Unlike bearings with cylindrical bores, this bearing is usually secured onto smooth cylindrical shafts using a suitable adapter sleeve. Alternatively, it can be fitted directly onto a suitably machined tapered shaft journal.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. When the inner ring is slid onto a tapered seat, the bearing clearance is reduced due to the elastic expansion of the ring. The C3 version ensures that sufficient clearance remains after assembly and under operational heating conditions.
The abbreviation TVH refers to a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements of both rows of balls. Polyamide is characterised by its low weight and elastic properties. It is suitable for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
As this self-aligning ball bearing is supplied from the factory without integrated sealing washers, the bearing housing requires an application-specific lubrication system as well as an external housing seal. You can operate the bearing with either grease or lubricating oil, depending on the ambient conditions and rotational speeds of the respective design.
