The SKF 6317 /C3 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 85x180x41 mm and increased C3 clearance, offers a high level of operational reliability under thermal loads.
The 6317 /C3 deep groove ball bearing is designed as a single-row radial rolling bearing for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 41 mm, this design primarily accommodates radial loads and, in addition, moderate axial forces in both directions. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, lubrication is flexibly supplied via the machine housing using grease or lubricating oil.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in industrial shaft mountings where significant heating occurs during operation. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component fits precisely into standardised bearing seats. The robust sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly and reliably withstands the mechanical stresses of continuous operation.
The suffix C3 denotes an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. If the shaft and inner ring heat up more than the surrounding machine housing during operation, the additional bearing clearance compensates for this thermal expansion. This effectively helps to prevent stress and the rolling elements from becoming jammed. The temperature range specified for this component is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width across flats of 41 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which means the bearing can be fitted flush into cylindrical housing bores.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This version is selected when tight fits or significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings occur during operation, to ensure that the rolling bearing continues to run smoothly even under thermal stress.
Open roller bearings do not come with integrated sealing washers fitted by the manufacturer. This design is suitable for machine environments where an external housing seal is in place and lubricants such as lubricating oil or special grease are supplied directly to the raceways via the housing system.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard heat-resistant rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and retain their dimensional stability within the specified operating range.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from case-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A sturdy sheet steel cage ensures the even guidance of the balls; it is designed for typical industrial applications and medium to high speeds.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This corresponds to the industrial standard tolerance for radial roller bearings and ensures reliable dimensional accuracy for common shaft and housing fits in mechanical engineering.
