The FAG 6314-2Z deep-groove ball bearing can withstand high radial loads and, thanks to its dimensions of 70 × 150 × 35 mm, is suitable for demanding shaft mountings.
The 6314-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from FAG designed for demanding rotational movements in industrial plant. With a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm, this component is particularly suitable for shaft mountings subject to high radial loads. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), the bearing guides the rolling elements within a sturdy sheet steel cage. You receive a ready-to-use machine component for a wide range of designs and repairs.
This radial ball bearing is primarily used to support shafts subjected to predominantly radial loads in general mechanical engineering. Thanks to its single-row design, the 6314-2Z deep groove ball bearing can accommodate not only high radial forces but also moderate axial forces in both directions. Designs frequently utilise this type in industrial gearboxes and electric motors. The cylindrical outer ring, without a flange or groove, fits precisely into standardised housing bores.
The designation 2Z stands for cover plates fitted on both sides, made from profiled sheet steel. These gap seals protect the interior of the bearing from coarse dirt and dust particles without exerting additional friction on the inner ring. This keeps rotational resistance low, which supports high speeds whilst maintaining a stable operating temperature. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this design is suitable for standard operating conditions between –30 and +120 degrees.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. These standardised dimensions enable a precise fit when mounted on suitable shafts and in cylindrical housing bores. Both the inner and outer rings are made of 100Cr6 roller bearing steel.
The designation ‘2Z’ refers to two non-contacting cover plates made of sheet steel, which are fitted to both sides of the outer ring. They reduce the ingress of dirt particles and keep the factory-applied grease inside. As the sheet metal discs do not come into contact with the inner ring, the bearing does not generate any additional frictional wear.
A standard bearing clearance provides the operating clearance specified by the manufacturer for typical fit conditions and moderate temperature differences. It compensates for minor dimensional changes caused by operational heating of the shaft and housing, without causing undesirable stresses on the rolling elements in the raceways.
The 6314-2Z deep-groove ball bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the material properties of the 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the lip seals. For applications outside these limits, special thermal designs are required.
The bearings are manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, also known internationally as ABEC 1. This level of precision meets the requirements of general drive technology and ensures smooth running when used in conjunction with correctly machined bearing seat surfaces.
The inner ring, outer ring and spherical rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel. This case-hardened chrome steel offers high resistance to mechanical wear and withstands the stresses of rolling contact. A guided cage made of pressed sheet steel keeps the balls at a consistent distance from one another.
