The FAG 62205 -2RSR deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 25x52x18 mm and a sliding seal on both sides, offers effective protection against the ingress of dirt particles.
The 62205 -2RSR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing manufactured by FAG. With a bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm, this component primarily absorbs radial forces. Thanks to its symmetrical raceway geometry, it is also suitable for withstanding moderate axial loads in both directions. The outer ring and inner ring are made from tried-and-tested standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6.
This radial ball bearing is suitable for applications in general mechanical engineering, as well as for rotating shafts where radial loads are the primary concern. The increased width of 18 mm provides additional space for grease inside the bearing. The outer ring, which has no flange or groove, can be fitted precisely into cylindrical housing bores. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely and ensures smooth running.
The suffix 2RSR denotes sliding seal lips fitted on both sides. These contact seals rest directly against the inner ring shoulders and help to prevent dust, dirt or moisture from entering the raceways. At the same time, they retain the grease inside the bearing. In combination with standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this provides a ready-to-fit component for standard applications.
With an internal diameter of 25 mm, an external diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm, the bearing has a wider geometry than conventional standard designs. This allows for a greater volume of lubricant inside the bearing. The cylindrical outer ring is manufactured without an additional mounting groove or flange.
At FAG, the designation 2RSR refers to sliding contact seals fitted on both sides. These sealing lips protect the interior from the ingress of dust and dirt particles. They also retain the grease inside the bearing.
Defined as the operating clearance, the standard radial bearing clearance refers to the internal clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways in the unloaded initial state. It is designed to ensure clearance-free and smooth running following correct installation on the shaft and housing.
The permissible operating temperature range for this rolling bearing is between -20 and +100 degrees Celsius. These limits are determined by the thermal resistance of the sliding seals fitted and the standard rolling bearing grease.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which ensures a high load-carrying capacity. A sheet steel cage ensures that the balls are guided smoothly. The bearing has no electrically insulating layers.
First and foremost, single-row deep-groove ball bearings absorb radial forces acting perpendicular to the shaft axis. Thanks to the deep grooves in the raceways, they can also support axial forces in both directions, provided these occur in combination with radial loads.
