The SKF NU320 ECP single-row cylindrical roller bearing with a 100 mm bore accommodates high radial loads and serves as an axial non-locating bearing.
The NU320 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row radial roller bearing in the Explorer design with an optimised internal structure. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceway, this bearing can handle high radial loads. With key dimensions of a 100 mm bore, 215 mm outer diameter and 47 mm width, this roller bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications. The manufacturer, SKF, produces the bearing with standard radial clearance and increased running accuracy to tolerance class P6.
Typical applications for the NU320 ECP cylindrical roller bearing include industrial gearboxes and heavy-duty drives where high radial forces are present. As the NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing, the construction compensates for thermally induced changes in shaft length directly within the bearing. The inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from both sides. This allows the inner and outer rings to be fitted separately, which facilitates maintenance work and repairs in mechanical engineering.
Thanks to its low weight, the polyamide cage reduces inertial forces during rapid speed changes and contributes to quiet operation. The combination of the polyamide cage and the open design allows for an permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design. Proper lubrication protects the open bearing from premature wear.
In the NU320 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the shaft to move axially within the bearing as a result of thermal expansion, without any harmful residual stresses being generated. The inner ring can also be completely removed for installation work.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise replacement during the maintenance of existing machinery and plant.
The designation ECP stands for an optimised internal design featuring a roller-guided polyamide cage. This material absorbs shocks, reduces friction and operates more quietly than solid metal cages. The cage can withstand temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The cylindrical roller bearing combines two tolerance classes: the dimensional accuracy complies with the standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1), whilst the running accuracy complies with the tighter tolerance class P6 (ABEC 3). This ensures precise guidance of the shaft with a lower run-out error.
As an open bearing with no integrated seals and no lubrication groove on the outer ring, grease or lubricating oil is supplied externally via the housing. The choice of lubricant depends on the operating temperature, speed and environmental conditions of the specific application.
