Cylindrical Roller Bearings SKF NJ309 ECP

The SKF NJ309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with a 45 mm bore and an outer diameter of 100 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity in a compact design.

This single-row NJ309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is part of the SKF Explorer series and features an optimised internal design. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, the bearing can accommodate high radial loads. In the NJ version, the bearing acts as a support bearing: solid flanges on both the outer ring and the inner ring enable it to accommodate axial forces in one direction.

What loads and movements does the NJ309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing accommodate?

This design is intended for bearing arrangements where high radial forces are combined with one-sided axial forces. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the roller bearing can be mounted flexibly and separately onto the shaft and housing. In the opposite direction, the internal geometry allows for axial displacement. This enables the bearing to compensate for operational thermal length changes in the shaft within the bearing housing.

What are the key features of the polyamide cage and open design?

The integrated polyamide cage guides the rollers, reduces friction during operation and has a low weight. The permissible temperature range extends from -30 to +120 degrees. The open design has no integrated seals, meaning that lubricant is supplied directly via the bearing housing. At the same time, a housing seal provided by the customer protects the raceways from the ingress of contaminants.

What are the dimensions of the NJ309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing?

The bearing has an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. These dimensions comply with the standard specifications for the NJ309 series and allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies.

What characterises the NJ design in this cylindrical roller bearing?

The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. As a result, the bearing acts as a support bearing and absorbs axial forces from one direction, whilst the inner ring remains axially movable in the opposite direction.

What is the clearance and tolerance class of this bearing?

The component is fitted with standard radial bearing clearance for normal operating conditions. It is manufactured to a dimensional accuracy of P0/PN or ABEC 1, and with an enhanced running accuracy of class P6 or ABEC 3.

What is the operating temperature range for this bearing?

The permissible operating range extends from -30 to +120 degrees. These temperature limits are determined by the material of the rings and rollers, as well as the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage during continuous operation.

Why can the inner ring be removed from one side only?

As the bearing can be dismantled, the inner ring and outer ring, together with the roller set, can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This design facilitates both assembly and disassembly and simplifies subsequent maintenance work on the bearing location.

What type of lubrication does the open cylindrical roller bearing require?

As the bearing is an open design without sealing washers, lubrication is provided by grease or oil from the surrounding housing structure. The choice of lubricant depends on the speed, ambient temperature and operating conditions of the respective system.
