The 51213 axial deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings, with dimensions of 65 × 100 × 27 mm, accommodates high unilateral axial forces in mechanical engineering.
The 51213 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to accommodate purely axial forces in one direction. This rolling bearing consists of a shaft ring with a 65 mm bore, a housing ring with an outer diameter of 100 mm, and a guided ball set with a robust sheet steel cage. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the design is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +150 °C. With a width of 27 mm, the bearing guides rotating shaft components in the axial direction and supports them against unilateral thrust.
This rolling bearing is used where axial loads acting in a defined direction parallel to the axis of rotation need to be supported. The single-sided design supports shafts in one direction and must not be subjected to radial forces. Typical applications are found in bearing arrangements subject to purely axial loads. As it is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the component fits into standardised fit systems used in general mechanical engineering.
Model 51213 is not angle-adjustable and is fitted without a separate shim. Planar, parallel contact surfaces on the shaft and housing are therefore essential, as misalignment leads to localised edge loads on the raceways. Connecting components must be aligned at right angles to the shaft axis. As the shaft washer, housing washer and ball cage are supplied separately, the axial bearing can be fitted in stages; however, a minimum axial load must be maintained at all times during assembly to guide the rolling elements.
With a bore diameter of 65 mm at the shaft flange, an outer diameter of 100 mm at the housing flange and a height of 27 mm, the bearing has fixed standard dimensions. These dimensions allow for precise integration into machine designs with corresponding interference fits for the shaft and housing.
As a single-direction design, this bearing accommodates only axial forces from a defined direction. This type of bearing is not suitable for accommodating radial forces. If combined loads occur in the application, the axial bearing must be supplemented by a separate radial bearing on the same shaft.
No, because the flat discs mean that the bearing cannot be adjusted for angular misalignment. Angular errors or misalignments between the shaft and the housing bore result in an uneven distribution of load across the rolling element raceway. The mating surfaces in the housing and on the shaft must therefore be machined so that they are exactly perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 °C, the standard version, made from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, covers this temperature range. The actual operating limit is determined not only by the temperature resistance of the bearing components but also by the temperature resistance of the selected lubricant in the bearing unit.
In this model, a pressed sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly along their circular path. The steel cage is characterised by its low weight, mechanical strength and high resistance to lubricants. It keeps the rolling elements in position without losing their shape, even when the assemblies are handled separately.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN and ABEC 1), this roller bearing meets the standard requirements for general mechanical engineering. This classification ensures standardised tolerance limits for the bore, outer diameter and radial run-out of the discs.
