The SKF 24044 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing has a bore diameter of 220 mm, an outside diameter of 340 mm and automatically compensates for misalignment during operation.
The SKF 24044 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for high radial and combined axial loads. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the double-row set of rollers aligns itself automatically, enabling the roller bearing to compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection. Manufactured from 100Cr6 standard roller bearing steel and guided by a sheet steel cage, this open bearing is designed for thermally and mechanically demanding applications.
This size is suitable for heavy-duty shaft mountings with high radial loads, where elastic housing deflection or manufacturing-related misalignment occurs. Thanks to its open design, the lubricant reaches the raceways unhindered, which ensures effective lubrication of the contact surfaces during continuous operation. The self-aligning bearing automatically compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings, preventing harmful edge pressures from prematurely stressing the roller sets.
The increased radial bearing clearance (C3) serves to compensate for thermal expansion at high operating temperatures as well as for fits caused by rigid bearing seats. This ensures that the required radial operating clearance is maintained within the specified temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The W33 design, featuring a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring, directs fresh lubricant directly into the centre between the two rows of rollers during maintenance.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 220 mm, an external diameter of 340 mm and a width of 118 mm. These dimensions comply with the standard specifications for the 24044 bearing series and determine the required installation space on the shaft and in the housing seat.
The designation W33 refers to a ring-shaped lubrication groove with radial lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. Grease or lubricating oil is fed directly between the two rows of rollers via these channels, which helps to ensure an even supply to all rolling elements.
The designation C3 indicates a larger radial clearance than in the standard version. This extra clearance is useful if the inner and outer rings are expanded due to tight fits, or if significant temperature differences occur between the shaft and the housing during operation.
This roller bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with increased running accuracy (class P5). As a result, it meets tighter tolerances for concentricity, which contributes to smooth running and reduces vibrations in the drivetrain.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The thermal stability of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the open sheet steel cage allow it to be used both at low ambient temperatures and under conditions of significant operational heating.
As an open roller bearing without integrated lip seals, this design requires an external lubrication supply. You should lubricate the component with a suitable grease or oil before commissioning and regularly replenish the lubricant via the lubrication holes.
