The SKF 24122 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing (110x180x69 mm) compensates for misalignment and accommodates heavy radial loads under thermal expansion.
The SKF 24122 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. It has a cylindrical bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 69 mm. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the open design operates within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The integrated lubrication groove with holes in the outer ring facilitates relubrication during operation.
This self-aligning roller bearing absorbs high radial forces and compensates for shaft deflection during operation. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing automatically adjusts to misalignment between the shaft and housing. The window-type sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical rollers with low friction. Typical applications include heavy-duty industrial drives and machine mountings where shock-like radial forces occur.
The version with bearing clearance class C4 has greater radial clearance than standard bearings. This increased bearing clearance is necessary when significant temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation. If the shaft expands more than the housing, there remains sufficient operating clearance to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed. The increased running accuracy to tolerance class P5 also supports low-vibration concentricity at rated speeds.
With an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 69 mm, the spherical roller bearing has standardised dimensions for high-load applications.
The CC version features two window-like sheet steel cages and an inner ring without a guide ring, fitted with symmetrical rollers. This design reduces frictional torques and ensures an even load distribution across the roller tracks.
A ring-shaped lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring enable the targeted delivery of lubricant directly between the two rows of rollers. This ensures that relubrication takes place evenly whilst the unit is in operation.
The increased bearing clearance class C4 compensates for large temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, as well as tight fits. During operation, the shaft often expands more than the housing, so that sufficient radial clearance prevents seizing.
As this is an open roller bearing without integrated cover or sealing washers, installation requires a suitable housing seal. This protects the interior of the bearing from the ingress of contaminants and moisture, and keeps the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
Featuring components made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and a sheet steel cage, the bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The lubricant and housing seals must be selected to suit the respective operating temperature.
