The SKF 2309 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing flexibly compensates for misalignment with a shaft diameter of 45 mm and, thanks to its polyamide cage, operates with low friction.
The SKF 2309 ETN9 double-row self-aligning ball bearing absorbs radial forces and accommodates misalignment between the inner and outer rings. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), this roller bearing has a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 36 mm. With standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this design complies with common industry standards for precision-fit shaft mountings in mechanical engineering.
Designs featuring long shafts or flexible housings are prone to deflection and misalignment during operation. The 2309 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing automatically compensates for such static and dynamic angular misalignments thanks to its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. The double-row design absorbs radial forces and accommodates operational shaft misalignments. As it has no integrated seals, this open bearing is suitable for applications where lubricant needs to circulate freely.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the two rows of balls with low internal friction and ensures quiet running. Plastic materials dampen dynamic shock loads and reduce centrifugal forces at higher speeds. When designing the bearing, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius must be taken into account. As this is an unsealed bearing, the bearing housing requires an external seal to protect against dirt, as well as continuous grease or oil lubrication.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 36 mm, the bearing complies with standard installation dimensions. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shafts and into compatible bearing housings.
Two rows of balls share a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This arrangement allows the rolling elements to oscillate within the outer ring in the event of shaft deflection or misalignment, without the edge pressure on the raceways rising to an impermissible level.
This design features standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is designed for normal operating temperatures and typical fit conditions, to prevent the radial clearance from becoming excessively restricted during operation.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. In addition to the standard roller bearing steel, this upper limit is determined by the polyamide cage used, which remains dimensionally stable and fully functional within these thermal limits.
As an open-type bearing, this bearing does not have any integrated sealing washers. You must therefore protect the bearing housing from dust and moisture via the surrounding casing and ensure a suitable supply of lubricant, such as appropriate rolling-element bearing grease or gearbox oil.
With a tolerance class of P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), this version offers the running and dimensional accuracy typically required in general mechanical and plant engineering for standardised cylindrical shaft connections.
